Hello All, I have 4 Servers, installed with Solaris, each Servers join domain and already installed with Win Server Std 2012 R2, all Servers installed with symantec antivirus only, and 3 of 4 Servers installed with Microsoft Exchange Servers. I already install symantec backup agent in 1 server that not installed with Microsoft Exchange Server. But when i try to install to other Servers failed and error message is "Error Connecting to the remote computer. Ensure that computer is available, has wmi enabled, and not blocked by a firewall.1603". The Solutions that i already try are: - I already check on all computers and wmi already enabled and grant security access in wmi properties and not blocked by a firewall. - I already try with command prompt like "netsh firewall set service type=remoteadmin mode enable and netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="remote administration" new enable=yes" but still not affected. - I also try install the agent from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents but still error. I'm using Symantec Backup Exec 2012 Version 14.0 Rev.1798 64bit. Any solutions? Thanks.Solved742Views0likes2CommentsBackup Exec 2015 for Solaris
Dear Experts, I have check from Backup Exec 2015 Software Compatibility List. I don't see Solaris as 1 in the list of supported OS. Is it because Solaris is no longer supported by BE version 2015? If it's really not supported, i think this is a bad idea.. Thanks.Solved885Views0likes1CommentBACKUP EXEC failing to backup zones from Solaris 10 global zone
Good morning. We are running a solaris 10 Ralus agent--> ralus=5204.1270.SP4 Presently we are backing up all zones individually with agents on each zones. We have no special needs to do so. We are trying to backup all of the zones from the global zone and it fails at the /zones file system. The user root is running the process so I am not sure why it's not able to backup the /zones file system. This feels like permission problems not being allowed to backup those file from the global zone. Is there something special I need to configure on the global zone. Hi, I need sugggestion on Symantec Backup Exec DLO options, how DLO works. we have one Backup Exec 2012 Server running on Windows 2008 R2 Ent with some windows client. Backup jobs are configured & its running fine. Now i need to implement DLO 7.0, we do have the icense for DLO. My questions are - 1) Can we install DLO 7.0 in Backup Exec server? If Yes, will DLO database make any changes in current Backup Exec database. 2) How to install DLO in Laptop & desktop 3) How to configure Backup Jobs.557Views0likes2CommentsPorts to open for BE10d and Remote Agent
I have recently had to move my DB server which is a Solaris 9 OS box off of domain "A" and on to domain "B". The BE10d is installed on a Windows Server 2003 R2 EE SP2 and still lives on domain "A". The problem is now that the DB server is on a different domain from the BE server, data on the DB server is not getting backed up. I know that certain ports need to be opened, but I don't know which ones. I think I have seen something about 10000, 6101, and 50000 - 50025. Can someone please help me with this old 10d version since Symantec would rather upgrade me than to answer this question. I'm not going to upgrade this because the hardware is getting upgraded in another 3 to 4 months from now and it would not be cost effective.Solved804Views0likes2CommentsRemote Agent for Unix not supported in Backup Exec 2012
I was suprised to just read in the BE 2012 SCL that all Unix agents are now discontinued in BE 2012. Only Linux agents are supported. What options do I have now since I have Solaris servers? Will the Linux agent work on Solaris? Thanks, Dennis1KViews0likes7CommentsWhy RALUS ignored entries from configuration file?

Hi, I have a weird issue with two Backup Exec 2010 remote agent for Unix that i installed on two Solaris 10 servers, these servers have zoning, i read a article for best practice for backing up Solaris with zones and I apply them. It explain that I have to install the RALUS on the Global zone with root user and from the global zone i can select the folder and files from the others zones that I want to backup. These is the issue. I have to backing up several folder that are in a non-global zone, i created a selection list of the server i want, i established the credential of the root account to logon to the global zone of the server, i searched for the folder "[ROOT]/root/zones/zOraMtier (name of the non-global zone)/root/u01/", i selected the folder and files i want to backup and i saved the selection list with a name, so far everything normal, i create a backup job using these selection list with a custom schedule. The job run succesfully for about 2 month, suddenly the backup jobs started to failed, I verified to the job log and said "Access Denied", the password and the permission of the root account are the same. I verify the selection on the selection list for the job, and I realase that I can't see anything after "[ROOT]/root/zones/zOraMtier (name of the non-global zone)/root/" so i can't see the folder and files i select before. Troubleshoot: I restarted all services on the Backup Exec server, restarted the VRTSralus.init services on the remote server, recreated the selection list, reinstalled the RALUS agent, restarted the servers and nothing. I don't have any more workaround ideas. Can anyone help me please. _________________________________________________________ Best Practices for having Backup Exec 12.x for Windows Servers and RALUS (Remote Agent for Linux \ Unix Servers) install and protect Solaris 10 servers with Zones Details: This document deals with the RALUS agent (Remote Agent for Linux Unix Servers), as there are no changes to the Backup Exec for Windows media server if Solaris zones are present. While RALUS can be installed and made to work in various configurations with regards to Solaris 10 and zones, the following are considered "best practice". RALUS should be installed into the default or GLOBAL zone. Other zones can be setup to use a different and more restrictive "root" account. By being installed to the GLOBAL zone. RALUS along with the true root account, would be able to backup any and all zones rather than be limited to a particular zone. Backups and restores then could be done on a per zone basis or per the entire server. Restores would also be possible as redirected across zones, if needed. All other considerations for installing and use of RALUS, would be the same if zones were or were not present. These would include type of backup, frequency, verification, accounts used to authenticate and run backups and restores and so forth. There should only be one installation of RALUS on the server, and it should be in the GLOBAL zone. With zones it is possible to have multiple installations of RALUS on a single server. The problem with that is that the installation might be confused one for another when creating jobs, checking resources available and troubleshooting. There would also be a risk of two installations trying to run at the same time accessing the same data, due to how certain mount points are configured. The only time that RALUS should be considered for installation into a non-GLOBAL zone, would be if backup ability was to be limited to a slice or single zone within the server for some security reasons. However, in this case RALUS using that zone's root account and not the true global root, would only see that particular zone. Thus the concern would be, that is something were to happen with files in other zones or on the default (Global) system, they would not have been backed up. After some time it might be assumed that as RALUS is installed on server XYZ (server name), that it is fully protected, when due to the zone, it in fact may not be.306Views1like0Comments
