MySymantec not allowing me to submit cases
Hi I am unable to raise a case on MySymantec. I've completed all the fields correctly, or so I thought. But when I submit it I get ""Either Courtesy or Entitlement required for creating case". What does that mean? I have a customer ID and a "Notification" Number. I've entered them both in several combinations of the fields below: Please complete at least one of the fields below : Customer Number Contact ID Support ID Serial Number Existing Case Number Any help would be appreciated. Dear all, I have recently installed Netbackup 7.0 for Unix on a Unix (Solaris 10 _ X86) platform machine. The server is Sun Fire X4270 attached directly to SUN SL48 Tape library (through fiber). The Master server is not able to auto-discover or access to robot, but it is able to detect the 2 tape drives. I am getting the following error:cannot connect to robotic software daemon (42) However, I have a secondary site where I have the exactly the same machine type (SUN Fire X4270 with Solaris 10 X86)) and tape library (SL48). I also I have installed the same patches on both servers. The second server is a media server that is attached to SL48 directly through fiber connection. The robot is correctly functioning with no issue. I have tried to install the robot using the sg.install script, but i got the following error: Warning: Driver (sg) successfully added to system but failed to attach WARNING: /usr/sbin/add_drv failed. There may be no SCSI devices on this machine WARNING: /usr/sbin/add_drv failed. There may be no SCSI devices on this machine. Could anybody help please? best regards,1.6KViews0likes7CommentsNetbackup deosn't eject tape after job

Hi We have the following details. 1. OS - IBM AIX 6.1 2. Server Hardware - IBM Power 740 server. 3. Application - SAP R/3 (ECC 6.0 with EHP 5.) 4. Database - Oracle 11g. 5. Fiber Optical - All server is connected with FC with a FC Cisco switch. 6. Tape Libraray - System Storage TS3200(Type - 3573 L4U ) (FC connected with switch). 7. System Storage. The IBM AIX server is clustered using Power HA Cluster Manager in between two AIX server. These AIX server have two logical partition each in both the AIX server. There are two LUN mounted on both of these AIX servers. I have the following queries:- 1. In the "nbu_7x_DB_agent_scl..pdf" compatibility docs page 31...it say that as follows. Database software - Oracle; Version - 7 ; DB bit - 64; OS - AIX 6.1; CPU Architecture - Power; OS Bit - 64 ; Start of support - 7.0. Here software is Oracle database and the version is 7 .what does it mean by "version 7". 2. I have checked in the cluster compibility martrix that "PowerHA Claster Manager 6.1" is supported . Do I need to check any other details for AIX Cluster. 3. In the "nbu_7x_scl_2013_06-26.pdf' page no. - 21...that it support AIX 6.1 but inthe SAN client it has given a note as follows ... "LPARs are supported with SAN Client if fibre channel port is dedicated" As per my knowledge "LPAR"means the AIX logical partition of the server or the resource. Do I need to check any other details in that LPAR and VIOS... 4. All backup were going to be onto the tape library. In the NBU_7x_hcl doc in the page 135...It says in the note " IBM medium changer driver 6.1.4.8 and above is compatible on Windows. " Does it not support in Linux or AIX server... Do I need to check any more details on this section. Any best practrice or any caution need to taken ...any thing else need to checked.. As we are going for Volume based license do I need to check any further more on this ..... Any issue identified....previously on these platform. Hi Guru's! I would like to move our NetBackup environment from a single master server (obviously single NetBackup domain), multi-site configuration to a dual-site single domain model. When I say dual-site, we have more than 2 sites but I would like 2 master servers in a global cluster where we can fail one master server over to the other. The other small sites will remain. Our current environment is NetBackup 7.1.0.4 1 master server 7 media server All media servers on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (Except 1 that's still on 2K3 SP2) 4 sites OST disk (DataDomain) that all backups go to. Monthly backups sent to tape and off sited. 1 site has most of our infrastructure at it which also hosts the master server. 1 site is our DR site which currently has 1 media server. This is where I would like to place the passive master server. The other 2 sites are small typical sites. I cannot find any documentation to explain how to do this. I have found one forum that said that it is not supported doing this so you need to get Symantec in here to perform a specialist job. I have performed 3 full NetBackup recoveries from scratch for upgrade purposes (and 1 DR test) so I know what I am doing to a degree. I am assuming that you could create a new Dual-site/ single domain with the active master server having the same name and IP and restore the catalog to it which would then replicate the catalog to the passive master, but then I feel I might be a little niave in assuming this. Any information, or documentation or adivce would be greatly appreciated. I thought I would try the forum before logging a call with Symantec Thanks in advance! -Richard HarveySolved849Views0likes2CommentsClient Based Deduplication - Configuration
HI, We have Netbackup 7.0 x64bit os master server and want to test the client side deduplication. I followed the procedure as given in the admin guide and ran the backup. Backup was successful and i am able to see the storage space reduction. I have configured for "Client side deduplication" in order to reduce the backup window time. But i noticed that there is no reduction in Backup Window, Even though i ran the policy many times. As per my knowledge the only difference in Media Server Dedupe and Client based dedupe in terms of configuration is to select the client in the master server properties and to check "Always perform Client based dedupelication". Please suggest if any configuration is required for client based deduplication configuration in order to reduce the backup window time Thanks in advance Expecting your valuable suggestions and solution844Views0likes4Comments
