NIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.1KViews3likes9CommentsNot following mount points, junction points message!
Hi, I am using a Dell Poweredge R710 connected to a Drobo 800i SAN that has the Deduplication drive configured to 4TB. I'm in the process of configuring BUE 2012 on all of our servers. When I am going through the job logs I noticed that even though I am getting reports showing completed and "Successful" backups to the Dedupe drive I get the following message on every "successful" job: Checkpoint restart cannot be applied to the following resource(s): System?StateBackup Exec will not follow mount points, junction points, and symbolic links when the Simplified Disaster Recovery indicator is ON. Drive and media mount requested: 1/22/2013 11:00:08 PM No appendable media could be mounted. Switching to overwrite operation on scratch media. 1) I want to use SRD on my Dedupe backups 2) Drobo is a recognized media for BUE - confirmed with Symantec and Drobo I have searched for answers (noticed someoen else getting told off for that in regards to this question- which was never answered.) I am also getting this error on other backup configured drives that are 1TB in size. Please note- the only other references I found references to tape and robotic media- and I do not use either. How do I eleiminate this error without eliminating the SRD? Thank you Ken1.8KViews2likes6CommentsServer List Not Refreshing in Backup Exec 15
We are currently running Backup Exec 15 (Version 14.2 Rev. 1180 640bit). We run muliple jobs daily and have recently increased the number of jobs. The issue we seem to be having is that the Server list statuses are not being refreshed or udpated. So for example, I will recieve and email that Server1 completed successfully. But when I log into the BE server and actually view the server list, it still shows that job and other jobs that have either run successfully, failed or cancelled to still show as Active - even though they are not. Closing BE 15 and reopening does not fix this. So the questions are: Why is this happening? Is this a BE service related issue? Anyone else experience this and if so what did you do to resolve it?Solved2.9KViews1like6CommentsRecovering Partial .GHO File
I recently catured an image of a users HDD with Ghost 11.0.1. After examining the .GHO and .GHS files it doesnt seem like all of the data was captured, only 11.5GB contained in all the files. When i attempt to open the files with Ghost Explorer (11.0.1.153) I can open the GHO file which lists the GHS files but when clicking on a GHS file and open...the window simply stays open nothing loads. Closing the open window reveals the below error. (path)\TMOORE.GHO Corruption in image file, or media not present. Not all files are shown I havea a total of 5 GHS files, all of which fail to open and display this same error message. Is there anyway that i can recover any of the data? I know the caputure failed at some point but some data is still there or at least 15GB worth. Is there anyway that I can open these GHS files even ifs the main GHO file is incomplete or corrupt. I've got the exact same issue as this thread which is unanswered.https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/simplified-disaster-recovery-wizard-doesnt-show-backup-sets Trying to perform an SDR from a backup which is SDR enabled using the DR file which is copied to the RDX cartridge at the end of the backup shows no Point in time backup sets to recover. RDX cartridge contains all bkf files and DR file shows correct time stamp for when backup was completed. RDX cartridge works fine attempting to restore with backup exec in full os. Just not in SDR. This is occuring on 3 seperate servers, all using BEX 2012. All pushing backups to RDX. Backups used to be able to be used in SDR. No changes have been made to backup configuration. Only BEX updates have been applied. SDR boot media is same media as was used on successful SDR 3 months ago.1.6KViews1like9CommentsSimplified Disaster Recovery Wizard doesn't show backup sets
Hi Guys, I'm trying to restoe a server using SDR. However, when I get to the screen where you choose your backup sets, nothing is displayed in the "Point in time" list. This was the same tape I used about a month ago and it was working fine. I have cataloged tape and it does show all the backup sets if you do it from the BE 2012.(see below) Does anyone know what could go wrong? I have tried a lot of thingsbut couldn't get the backup sets to show up in SDR wizard!3.6KViews1like10CommentsRestoring Files/Folders from Tape Backup
Hi all So, I have a bit of a problem. I accidentally deleted the wrong folder from our work server yesterday (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), but we have a nightly backup to a tape drive, so I went onto the backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) to restore the data. However, using the restore wizard it has been "Querying for data" for approximately 12 hours... is this normal?? Is it possible to restore files/folders from a tape backup, or would we have to restore the whole system? Do I just need to wait a long time for the system to find the data? I'm a designer with a decent knowledge of IT but Server/Server backups/Tape are all pretty new to me! We have a spare 2Tb NAS drive so I could potentially restore all of the data to this (approximately 600gb), would this be a more viable approach? Thanks in advanceSolved1.9KViews1like2CommentsImpossible to restore - Catalog task never end
Hello everybody, We use BE 10.0 and we face to a disaster. The last backup are OK but after reinstalling our server and BE 10, when we want to catalog the tape (the inventory task is OK), the task take 18:00 and more so we stop it and we don't see any data. Is someone know an issue to this problem ? Is there a solution to get our data back from an other tool ? Thanks. Kind Regards. Benjamin.355Views1like4CommentsQ and A
