Zapping a mailbox returns error [0x8004011D]
Hi All, Just thought I'd share this information as it drove me crazy for days. We had about 20 or sousers who could archive but restores would fail or hang, but after further investigation other symptons may vary. Basically when they tried to restore an email from the vault it would hang in the R1 queue and cause backlogs that simply wouldn't clear. I'm suspecting this could also affect the 'A' queues as well. When we tried to ZAP the mailbox it would fail with the below error, and I couldn't work out why! Error - Whilst processing mailbox with dn: (LegecyExchangeDN of user) [0x8004011D] I dtraced the EVPM with no success, or no valid errors that explained why (not sure if that was the right one to trace). In the end I remembered a similar issue with our BlackBerry's and checked the users LegecyExchangeDN in ADSIEDIT. Surprise! There was a space at the end of it! This is not something you can see in PowerShell... After removing the space from the end and trying again... SUCCESS! Not only did zapping now work but recalls worked as well. Be warned though, you cannot simply remove the space from the LegecyExchangeDN as you will break email for replies and cached entries in Outlook. You'll have to add the damaged LegecyExchangeDN as an X500 address to the users mailbox and then remove the space from the account either through PowerShell or ADSIEDIT (adsiedit is probably eaiser as you see what you are doing) Hopefully this will be helpful to someone...1.2KViews6likes1CommentWhat is the best practice after the Exchange Mailbox user is leaving the company ?
Hi, Can anyone share what is the best pratice to do after you archive the Exchange Server mailboxes with EV according to this article (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67757) ? Do you still keep it or can you safely delete it from the Exchange Server which will means it deletes the AD account as well. I've never delete all of my Exchange Server mailboxes in the company before because i do not know what or how to access the archived email from the EV console. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksSolved1.4KViews4likes5CommentsCategories with Retention
Want to know how others handle their categories? I have 13 depts that want their own categories and retention set up, what is the general standard? Any suggestions of what to do or not to do? All, My company currently uses Enterprise vault, version 9.0.3, on a 2008 R2 STD virtual machine, with a remote 2005 SQL server, and attached LUNS for storage, with a NetApp backend, & Exchange 2010 in an DAG environment. Along with this we also have Discovery Accelerator, version 9.0.3 on the same server as EV 9. We want to upgrade our environment to Enterprise Vault 10, and create a secondary server for high availability, using the same specifications. The host will be Windows 2008 R2 ENT, 10 gigs of memory, and 8 cpus. I have been tasked with a full system upgrade & migration, to a new VM host, and new EV 10 installation. Here is what I would like to do, and need guidance on how, if possible, and other tips and suggestions moving forward. After building two new VM’s with EV 10 on them, I would like to migrate services from the EV 9 server, and port all services over to the EV 10 server. There are key items that to my understanding need to be migrated from EV 9, over to EV 10. Mailbox Vault Journal Vault Discovery Accelerator SQL Database from 2005, to 2008 R2 Along with that we are retiring out SQL 2005 environment, and need to migrate EV’s existing SQL data, into a new SQL 2008 R2 server. Since EV requires SQL, and Discovery Accelerator does also, this particular part of the migration eludes me completely. To make things even more complicated, the current storage we are using for EV’s content, is on an old filer, and we need to migrate the vaultsand indexing to our new fast storage, and this also completely eludes me. To review, here are my goals: Build & prep two new 2008 R2 ENT systems for high availability Migrate currently EV9 SQL content from 2005 SQL, to 2008 R2 SQL server. Migrate storage of all EV content, to new fast storage. Within that storage is the Indexes, mail vaults, journal vault, etc I may be completely out of line, however my hope here is to setup a new EV 10 server, attached it to the new fast storage, also set it up to the new 2008 R2 SQL server, and then somehow migrate data & services from the EV 9 server, over to the EV 10 server. Then from there execute the process of decommissioning the old EV 9 server. I would like to avoid doing any software upgrades to the existing EV 9.0.3 server, including Discovery Acclerator, and once the new system is online, simply move data, and services over. I have read several post for this type of process, but I haven’t found anything with specific chronological information for this. If any user or staff member could help, I would be very appreciative. Thanks! -KellySolved685Views3likes3CommentsJournaling and I/O load
Hi there, Thanks for you help in advance. We are thinking turn on Archiving for Journaling, but I am a bit worried about the I/O load. Our current Netapp SAN is high on IOPS already, and I don't want stress it out and cause performance issues for other system. So my question is how much more load it will put on the system if we turn on Archiving for Journaling? We use EV 9.0.1 with Exchange 2003 on Windows 2008 server, Netapp version is 8. Assume we archive everything in Journaling mailbox. cheers ying497Views3likes6Commentsto pause exchange archiving

Running EV 7.5 on Windows 2003. Within Computer Management, I notice there are lots of different EV queues. EV Archive agent admin queue EV Default Admin queue EV Mailbox Task for server1 admin queue EV Restore Agent Admin queue EV Restore spool admin queue EV spool queue EV storage archive EV storage restore Generally, the Mailbox task queue is the busiest. Could someone explain to me what these queues mean? Is there an effect of deleting a queue if it's getting too large? Which queues are the ones we can delete etc?Solved13KViews3likes5CommentsAfter the mailbox migration, the archived email could not be retrieved from EV ?
