Netbackup upgrade
I am trying to upgrade a server from 9.1.0.1 to 10.3 After running the prechecks with the installer I get an error message: Can't read file C:\Program files\Veritas\db\Data\vxdbms.conf at C:\Users\**\AppData\Local\Temp\**file name that does not exist**" Our vxdmbs file is located at C:\Program files\Veritas\NetBackup\NetBackupDB\Data How do I fix where the installer is looking for the file. I have already looked at the file and it has the right file path.509Views0likes1CommentNetBackup 7.5.0.6 (NetBackup 7.5 Maintenance Release 6) is now available!
(This is a crosspost from the Netting Out NetBackup blog) I'm very pleased to announce that the next Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 is now available! NetBackup 7.5.0.6 is the sixth maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5. It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.5. In addition, this release contains almost 600 additional fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.6 to over 1700!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects. NetBackup 7.5.0.6 includes the following proliferations and enhancements: YES, Windows Server 2012/8 is now supported! db2 10.1 (snapshot support; streaming support was added in 7.5.0.5) Exchange 2013 Hyper-V 2012 SharePoint 2013 SAP HANA client support - see this blog post for more information To download 7.5.0.5, please visit the following page: NetBackup 7.5.0.6 Download Links http://symantec.com/docs/TECH204644 (link is fixed - sorry about that!) This is a MAINTENANCE Release for NetBackup (as opposed to a Release Update) - it can ONLY be applied on top of NetBackup 7.5. (If you are currently running 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, or 7.1.0.x, you will need to upgrade to 7.5 before you can apply 7.5.0.6.) Please note that maintenance releases are CUMULATIVE - that means that 7.5.0.6 contains all product fixes included in 7.5.0.1, 7.5.0.2, 7.5.0.3, 7.5.0.4 AND 7.5.0.5. If you are currently running NetBackup 7.5, you may apply the 7.5.0.6 maintenanace release without installing 7.5.0.1, 7.5.0.3, 7.5.0.4 or 7.5.0.5. In fact, if you are still running NetBackup 7.5, we would HIGHLY encourage applying 7.5.0.6! HI, I am a support engineer, I have limited knowledge about NBU. Don't go harsh on me for asking stupid questions. I have shared the environment details for a client who are planning an upgrade. Lucky for them, I have to do the upgrade. Environment details: PRIMARY SITE: A virtual NetBackup Master Server based upon NBU version 8.1.2 (OS LINUX). A NBU Appliance 5240 configured as a Media Server based upon NBU version 8.1.2 and Appliance version 3.1.2. MSDP is configured on the media appliance. DISASTER RECOVERY SITE: A NBU Appliance 5240 configured as a Master-Media Server based upon NBU version 8.1.2 and Appliance version 3.1.2. Via auto image replication working on one to one model NBU replicates the backup copies from PR site to DR site. Lets suppose we are upgrading to NBU 9.0, Now the questions are, Firstly I will update the master server to NBU 9.0. If the prerequisites check clears. all is good and I should proceed to upgrade the master server and move onto the media appliance. Is that how it goes? The media appliance is based upon NBU appliance version 3.1.2 so upgrading the appliance version to 4.0 would automatically upgrade the NBU version in it from 8.1.2 to 9.0. Is the NBU version bundled in the appliance version or do I have to upgrade it separately? At the DR site when upgrading the NBU appliance to appliance version 4.0, would it update the master and media server NBU versions in it to 9.0 or if I have to update NBU version separately would the media and master server both be updated from the same package? Should I run the AURA (Appliance Upgrade Readiness Analyzer) tool on both PR and DR appliances before upgrading them? Can I downgrade if something goes wrong? Marianne Nicolai RiaanBadenhorst Please help, thanking in anticipation.Solved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsUpgrading Netbackup 8.0 -> 8.3

Mu current NetBackup environment consists of a 7.7.3 Master server running Solaris 11 using AIR to another 7.7.3 Master server running Solaris 11.Is there an order for upgrading the Master servers when AIR is being used i.e. does the remote Master need to be upgraded first or it doesn't matter? Are there any other issues I should be aware of? Should the Security Certificates all be generated on the source Master? Thank you.Solved1.9KViews0likes4CommentsNetBackup 8.1.2 upgrade via SCCM
We’re trying to upgrade NetBackup from 7.5 to 8.1.2. on Windows clients remotely via our Linux Master. Due to significant changes between these two versions we are not able to deploy an upgrade as the certificate authentication tech has changed dramatically. We now need to get this certificate installed on each of the clients before master/client communication can occur. So, we won’t have to touch our hundreds of servers manually we are looking into ways of automating this via SCCM. Is anyone aware of a way to deploy the 8.1.2. client with both cert and client packaged together via SCCM? How to find and package the certificate with the client? What are the best practices - deploy cert alone, combine cert and installer, remove 7.5 first then install 8.1.2? why can't log in Netbackup java admin console(username invalid)?
hi, All I have such a question. we have a windows NBU backup environment 6.5.6, it;s very old. we used the "Netbackup administration console"(the icon below) to do the adminitrative job. no need to input username/password every time. actually I don't like the user interface. So when I upgraded the NBU from 6.5.6 to 7.5.0.3, I installed "Netbackup administration console" 7.5. It looks like below. but I came accross login issue which not happened in other NBU backup environments. it always shows as below. All of my NBU services are running with this domain account. We only have 2 Windows NBU backup domains. it is good in the other one but doesn't work for this one. I even created a file "C:\Program Files\Veritas\Java\auth.conf", which looks like beow, but still doesn;t work... STARCITE\srv-backup ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL so who please help me correct this issue?Solved6.4KViews0likes17Comments
