Backup Exec fails to scan or inventory
Example of the error: (Job: "Inventory Device 00059") Inventory Device 00059 -- The job failed with the following error: The parameter is incorrect Also, while running Daily backups, I first get a message that the job failed because "The operation failed to acquire the minimum number of drives and media needed. " and later get a second message that it succeded. I am unable to verify the exact state of the drive because it is not updating when I scan it. Part of me suspects the connection to the Drive is broken, but I can connect to the web interface just fine. Does anyone have any ideas how to get scanning working again?4.3KViews2likes17CommentsCould not connect. Backup Exec does not appear to be running on MyPC. What do I need to do?
I'm running a Windows 7 64 bit. I just installed a free trial of Symantec Backup Exec. When I try to run the program, this error appears: I went to Services and I can't find any BE services. What am I doing wrong?Solved4.2KViews0likes2CommentsAgent wont install
I have a vanilla windows 7 x64 professional that I need to get backup exec agent installed on so I can put it into production. I am having trouble getting it installed. If I try to copy over the RAWS64 folder and install the agent locally, I can get the workstation added to backup exec as long as I don't tick the option upgrade when I am adding. However doing it this way the job will not run. It will error out withThe job failed with the following error: A communications failure has occurred. Initial searching shows I need to upgrade the agent. If I try it by remote push, I get this. We are running Backup Exec 2010 R3 and when I go to the selection list to add a computer, that is known to have the agent installed, it comes up with either "none" or it only shows the shares. It does not show the Local drives, system state, utility partition Shadow Copy Components, etc... I have uninstalled the client on the workstations. I have tried to install it both locally and remotely by pushing it from the BE server. Any help would be much apprecitated. Thank you.Solved3.4KViews0likes8CommentsBackup Exec can't connect to agent
I have been having issues with Backup Exec not being able to connect to a few target computers. I thought I had found a solution to this (restarting target machine, removing and establishing trust, etc) but that doesn't seem to be working anymore. I ran a full job on monday morning and the incrementa got stuck at discovering resources. I have put the job on hold and restarted the target machines but the server still can't connect. I open the job properties (where selections can be modified) and three of my 12 target machines can't connect. Thanks,Solved3.4KViews1like5CommentsFinal Error: 0xe000942a - Backup Exec did not find any resources to include in the backup. Check the backup selections for this job to make sure it includes resources that are available for backup
Good Afternoon, Recently, i upgraded from BackupExec 2012 to 2014. Since upgrading, i am no longer able to apply the backup agent to my desktops. All of the desktop computers that previously backed up, now fail with the following error: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000942a - Backup Exec did not find any resources to include in the backup. Check the backup selections for this job to make sure it includes resources that are available for backup. Final error category: System Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-37930 I am also unable to establish a trust with the remote agent. However,I am able to successfully push the install/update agent to the computer. i noticed that the problem seems to be occuring because the Remote Agent Service Crashes on the remote computer. When opening "Backup Exec Utility Agent" on the remote computer, I receive the following error: "Cannot obtain settings for the Agent for Windows publishing from the registry" Then when i check the services, the Backup Exec Remote Agent Services is not running. I can restart the service, but it promptly crashes leaving an error in this error in the event log: Faulting application name: beremote.exe, version: 14.1.1786.0, time stamp: 0x5371d644 Faulting module name: ndmpcomm.dll, version: 14.1.1786.0, time stamp: 0x5371d641 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000204a9 Faulting process id: 0x76c Faulting application start time: 0x01cfa781c0fc670f Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\beremote.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\ndmpcomm.dll Report Id: 48445150-1375-11e4-980d-001aa0da8d9f I have tried reinstalling the application multiple times with no success. I uninstalled completely, pushed the agent from the computer and receive the same errors. I tried manually installing the Agent from the RAWS folder and i receive the same errors. I am able to Telnet from the desktop to the server on port 10000 successfully so i don't believe the firewall is blocking it. Furthermore this same exact problem occurs on 30+ computers that are all windows 7 desktop computers. Please help me find a solution. Let me know what other information/logs i need to apply. Hi, We like to have our customers use a separate box for the running of Backup Exec. Now that Win 7 is the standard we tried to install on that and as you know fails. Why is this not supported? In a previous thread a technical support agent replied when asking about this in 12.5 and said "Windows 7 Support is scheduled to be part of BE 2010 (which is due for release soon) There are currently no plans to provide support forBEWS 12.5." https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-125-windows-7-support Now when 2010 came out it is not supported per the white paper. It does work in Server 2008 though, which is not too different than Win 7 right? Will this be supported in 2012 version? The reason that I ask, and many will need to know, is you MUST have a 64bit OS to backup a newer Exchange server if it is running 64bit. And now with not being able to get Windows XP 64bit we need an affordable solution for them. We cannot have them buy another license for server or a license for a virtual machine that they cannot afford. If Symantec will not support running this on Windows 7 we will have to have our customers, 32, that currently use Backup Exec migrate to another program that will support running on this platform. I know that we are not the only customer that wants and needs this. I would appreciate an honest answer on this and a guarantee if this is going to be supported in 2012 or with an update to 2010. Thank You.Solved2.9KViews0likes5CommentsCommunication with the server timed out on the call 'QueryConfigurationList'

Hi, I have a 2005 copy of Ghost from a previous computer and some older V2i archives I want to open and extract a few files from (not full restore). I have the Ghost directories also saved and can access the restore points with v2iBrowser.exe but when I try to open the archive I get the following error message: "Error EC8B0001: The Symantec storage engine has not been initialised." As I just want to access the archives once I do not want to install Ghost (even if the older version will install on WIndows 7) nor purchase a new version. Can someone point me at which file (or files) is the service engine and I can start the service manually so I can open the archives and have a look as none of the programs appears to be a standalone utility for lookin inside V2i archives. thanks Directories I have are: Agent Browser Console Shared Utility2.4KViews2likes7Comments
