LTO5 tape is showing incorrect capacity
Hi There, I'm new to this forum, I use Backup Exec 2010 with an IBM LTO5 tape drive and we have three tapes that are showing a capacity of 35.4gb. If I try to use them it does indeed become full after 35.4gb. I've tried a full erase and everything I can think of and they're stuck at this capacity. I know it's only 3 tapes, not the end of the world... But I'm really curious as to what has happened to them. They weren't new, I think they came with the drive and had been opened. Any insight greatly appreciated!
Which Agent for Virtual Servers
Hi all Just joined the forum as I'm about to purchase Symantec Backup Exec and I was told I need to also purchase an agent that will backup the two virtual servers that will be running across two DL380 servers. I have two questions that I hope you guys or girls can help me with: 1) What agent do I need to purchase for Symantec Backup Exec 2014 that will backup the two virtual servers that I will have? 2) One of those virtual servers will be hosting the backup server. I have heard mixed opinions regarding having the backup server on a virtual machine. Do you think I should ideally purchase another physical server soley for back purposes? Seems a waste of $$ and my budget it tight. Thanks for any feedback and help.
Backing Up XP Pro with Large Number of Folders
I have an XP Pro PC that has folder that has a very large number of subfolders. I can backup other folder on the drive. Backupexec crashes when backing up the folder with the large number of subfolders. The same issue happens with NTbackup. I am able to use the DIR command to display the subfolders from a command prompt. ANy help would be great.
Data recovery - Hard disk failure
Dear all, I am going through the 5 stages as my laptop crashed and may personal back-up standards were poor. I am just an IT-user, so simple answers please. I asked IT if they could send my laptop/hard-disk to a provider to try to recover my data but the reply was that everything is encrypted (we run Symantec-applicationson our laptops).
