LTO5 tape is showing incorrect capacity
Hi There, I'm new to this forum, I use Backup Exec 2010 with an IBM LTO5 tape drive and we have three tapes that are showing a capacity of 35.4gb. If I try to use them it does indeed become full after 35.4gb. I've tried a full erase and everything I can think of and they're stuck at this capacity. I know it's only 3 tapes, not the end of the world... But I'm really curious as to what has happened to them. They weren't new, I think they came with the drive and had been opened. Any insight greatly appreciated!978Views0likes6CommentsWhich Agent for Virtual Servers
Hi all Just joined the forum as I'm about to purchase Symantec Backup Exec and I was told I need to also purchase an agent that will backup the two virtual servers that will be running across two DL380 servers. I have two questions that I hope you guys or girls can help me with: 1) What agent do I need to purchase for Symantec Backup Exec 2014 that will backup the two virtual servers that I will have? 2) One of those virtual servers will be hosting the backup server. I have heard mixed opinions regarding having the backup server on a virtual machine. Do you think I should ideally purchase another physical server soley for back purposes? Seems a waste of $$ and my budget it tight. Thanks for any feedback and help.1.2KViews0likes8CommentsBE 9.1 won't catalog media, even after multiple "inventory" operations
Same problem whether trying to catalog tape or B2D. Problem is that C: crashed, and that is where BE stores the catalog. So, have in this case, over a year of backups that do not seem to appear in the catalog. Thank you.563Views0likes6CommentsBackup Exec 11d Remote Agent on Windows Server 2012
hi currently we are using Backup Exec 11d and make a backup of a Windows 2003 Server. For this we are using the Backup Exec 11d remote agent on the w2k3 server. The backup includes the w2k3 system and data files. Now we want to upgrade the server from 2003 to windows 2012 r2 (64 bit). Will the Backup Exec 11d remote agent run on the new windows 2012 server? If not, is it still possible to backup the 2012 server without the remote agent? Special features and backup of some server system stuff is not so important. It would be sufficent if the backup of the pure data files would work. Is that possible without the remote agent?Solved1.1KViews0likes6CommentsUpgrading to 2014 from 12.5
Hello I 've asked this question before and got an answer, but need further information. I am currently running 12.5 32 bit on Server 2003. I would like to migrate to a Server 2012R2, which I know is 64 bit. the question is: 1) Does Backup Exec 2014 have a 32 bit version, or is it 64 bit? 2) Can I upgrade from a 32 bit version 12.5 to a 64 bit version 2014, or do I have to purchase a full 64 bit version of 2014. 3) Does Backup Exec 2014 run on Server 2012R2. 4) If I download the 60 day version of 2014, and then purchase the license, can that be added into the 60 day version to make it 'offical'. 5) What licenses would I need to buy for the Backup Exec 2014 and to be able to backup an Exchange server?Solved456Views0likes1CommentBacking Up XP Pro with Large Number of Folders

Dear all, I am going through the 5 stages as my laptop crashed and may personal back-up standards were poor. I am just an IT-user, so simple answers please. I asked IT if they could send my laptop/hard-disk to a provider to try to recover my data but the reply was that everything is encrypted (we run Symantec-applicationson our laptops). I am still hoping that there is a way to get most of it back so all feed-back welcome. Thanks, Wim Sr Risk Engineer, Perth, WA PS I picked a Symantec product form the list but it is not relevant.351Views0likes1Comment
