vxsnap create for SQL
Hi, I try to get a VSS snapshots for SQL, but I have a problem. This is my environment: I have distributed 10 database on 2 volumes and the logs in another one. E:\Database, with 5 database, size 100GB F:\Database, with 5 database, size 100GB J:\Logs_all_Database, with 10 logs for each database, size 50GB I have 3 volumes for the snapshots with the same size. If I take a snapshot for one database only this database quiesce, and get the snapshot with only one consistent database. My point is, can i get a snapshot for all the volume with only the name of the SQL instance, and get the quiesce of all databases on that volume? or I need to separate databases in individual volumes?Solved1.1KViews0likes3CommentsConfigure SFRAC on Windows
Hi, I am trying to configure SFRAC on Windows 2008 R2. I didn't find a solution of SFRAC for windows. Iknow that SFWHA is active/passive. But SFRAC is active/active, and it uses CVM rather than VxVm.I wonder if there is anyway can make the Oracle DB and shared disks active/active on Windows? We have a 30TB volume striped across two 15TB sub-disks. We need to move one of those subdisks to a different storage system for performance reasons. Since there is no good way to move the data on the underlying storage we need to do this through VxVM. So we presented a 15.2TB LUN from the destination storage system, and attempted a subdisk move from VxVM. Sadly, it always stops after a few hours with the following rather useless error: ID: V-76-58645-7950 Received: 8. mars 2012 kl 21.58 CET Severity: Error Source: vxvm Classification: dynamic disk and volume class Brief Description: Failed to move a subdisk that is part of volume \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\s9-DeDupDG\s9-DeDupDATA. We are running SFHA v5.1 for Windows 2008 R2 and we would like the floating virtual IP assigned to resource group to the be the source IP of the node instead of the default IP assigned to the interface. I'm a little fuzzy on how Windows chooses which IP is the source IP if there are multiple IP's assigned to an interface, but I was wondering if there is any configuration setting that can be chosen within SF. This is important because the firewall team only wants to allow through the VIP of the resource group.Solved2.2KViews1like3CommentsStorage Foundation for Windows Basic 5.1 SP2 on Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter (SP1)
Hello, I downloaded the above product and trying to install on the above OS. When it tries to verify the target system to install, it fails saying that the license is intended for Windows 2008 Enterprise and lower and cannot continue. I called tech support and got shuffled back and forth between them, licensing and pre-sales support, only for all of them to say that they cannot support "trial ware" even though this page (http://www.symantec.com/business/storage-foundation-basic) says that it is a "free-license version". Has anyone run into this? I would like to get it installed and try it out. Thank you. JasonSolved883Views0likes5CommentsSFW Dynamic Multi Pathing Feature required for MSCS setup with MS MPIO?
Hi, having implemented a two-node Server 2008 R2-based MSCS with multipathing (MS MPIO) I experienced some problems to create dynamic disk cluster group while configuring SFW. Doing some tests, also with SCSIcmd tool, I was able to identify the multipathing as potential cause of the problems. I found the following page https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/veritas-storage-foundation-windows-dynamic-multi-pathing-competitive-comparisons but it doesn't state that SFW dynamic multipathing feature would be generally a REQUIREMENT to operate SFW on a MSCS. So: My first question is, if Symantec SFW dynamic multipathing feature is required to operate my setup. The second question would be what I can do if my disk arrays aren't listed in the DSM support list. Environment: Nodes: 2x Dell PowerEdge T710 servers with Broadcom 10G dual-port iSCSI HBAs; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 fully patched Storage: EonStor InforTrend S16E-G1240 disk arrays; each configured as RAID5; EonPath (InforTrend DSM for MPIO) is installed; node addressing by Microsoft iSCSI-Initiators. Both the Microsoft cluster and the MPIO setup works perfectly without SFW. SFW is required for storage virtualization and VVR. Thanks in advance! We use VMWare Lab Manager to deploy Windows servers from a template. I noticed disk space was an issue on some of our Windows 2003 servers. My boss said we do not need Veritas Storage Foundation 5.1 for Windows Client and Server Components. After removing both I cannot access Disk Management in Computer Management. The error is "Unable to connect to Logical Disk Manager Service." I cannot manually start the Logical Disk Manager service either. When I try the error is "The Dependency service or group failed to start." I looked at the dependencies like RPC etc but that did not fix it. Short of re-installing Storage Foundation are there any solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved957Views0likes1CommentDeporting/Importing Disk Group in VMware.
Hello. I am running SFHA 5.1 in a VMware environment. I created a 2 node cluster and the nodes failover perfectly. However when i create a disk group on a shared bus and deport it from the current node. It does not show up for importing in the other node. I have created the IP, NIC and VmDG resources and they are all online on the node the disk group was created on. However when i try to fail them over. the VmDG faults as it is not able to import itself on the other node. I tried both Windows server 2003 and 2008 and the problem persisted. Please note that i ran the '' Vxclus usesystembus ON '' command to enable the shared bus. I would really appreciate your help in this regard. Thanks Umair.Solved1.5KViews0likes7CommentsNetApp enlarged LUN but SFW did not see the new size
Dear all, I am in need of help. In our environment, Enterprise Vault for Domino was installed over VCS and VSF for Windows. Recently, the vault store is running out of space and IT decided to enlarge the LUN (a NetApp FAS3140 with FC disk) to allow more space for the vault store. In NetApp, the LUN was increased from 2TB to 3TB. The partition type is Windows GPT. However, when we checked in the VSF for Windows, after running rescan in diskpart, the disk was still shown as 2TB only. Is there any specific step required after enlarged the LUN so that the VSF for Windows can see the new size? Thanks a lot, Rayson WongSolved
