Oracle to Netbackup Copilot
Hello, I'm trying to implement Copilot for Oracle. I've set up the SLPs and registered the test instance, but NBU is unable to perform a backup with the error: Unable to perform a manual backup with policy "test". The policy does not have a list of files to back up. The setup: Oracle Linux 7.7, NBU 10.2, StoreOnce 5260 (4.3.6), Catalyst 4.4.0. In short, I'm trying to implement NBU accelerator for faster backups. If there is another way, please refer to the guide. Thank you in advance.Solved833Views0likes6CommentsNetBackup Copilot for Oracle - its performance
Hello I am wondering what are the speeds you are achieving with Copilot for Oracle on NBU appliances - I am specifically taking about Backup from Snapshot step (its copying the data from share to msdp on the same appliance) - in configuration with NetBackup Copilot with Oracle Accelerator (Oracle's Incremental Merge). In environment I do manage we do have 3 such backups configured. Each is using its own NBU appliance, two streams, NBU appliances are 5250's and I do see such speeds for this Backup From Snapshot step: 700 MB/s 396 MB/s 308 MB/s So out of these three appliances only one is performing well and its a benchmark for the other two which are not even close to first one. I am wondering what values you are seeing in your environment. Please share if you can. Also I am wondering how NBU 5350 could have improved above backup approach - as 5250 can only have standard share - while the 5350 optimized share. What is the benefit of the optimized share?780Views0likes1CommentCopilot and Dataguard
We're running Oracle 11g configured as a two-node RAC in prod and are using Dataguard to replicate to a remote site. We have two 5240's (with copilot) replicating between these two sites as well. We'd like to be able to backup the stanby database (to offload the backups from prod) and have the 5240 in the remote site replicate back to the 5240 in the prod site for recovery purposes. I'm being told that the copilot feature doesn't support this. I know it works but I can't find anywhere that says if it's supported (or not). Does anyone have a link that spells this out for me?1.8KViews0likes5CommentsCopilot for oracle rac
I tried with unsuccessful attempts to put Copilot to work, I have a single Appliance 5230 2.7.3(Netbackup 7.7.3) whose role is both master, media the scenario is I wanted to configure DUMP and Sweep function mounting nfs share on one of 2 Oracle RAC node (11.2.0.4) run into issues "Database is in the wrong state (must be OPEN) for the requested action" however that is not the case. I tried many things to make it work with no success . I am at verge of giving this up, the documentation around this ok but there no white papers or case study with troubleshooting contents published. I had an idea wanted the SME to shed some insight on this, if this strategy is ok or lame. As I have nfs share from appliance mounted on one of the Oracle RAC node, the scheduled Rman script backs up the database to the nfs share , next I will creat standard policy for File system backup from nfs share. I know the essence of Oracle Copilot is lost with No SLP configured, however I will have something to work with until I fix this. Let me know what you folks feedback on this. Thanks much in advance for your time. Regard/Hissam EX: RAC1 node with nfs share 1 TB mounted on /oracle mp.1.8KViews0likes5CommentsThe best enterprise-class backup solution made now even better
