BE 2012 and Data Domain w/ DDBoost
Background: So we have Backup Exec 2012 and two Data Domain DD620's. We have all the required licensing including the Data Domain DD Boost and replication licenses. I have installed the Open Storage Technology (OST) plugin 2.5.0.3 as suggested for the version of BE. Both DD boxes are visable and connected to my BE server. I have foud some documentation and a video that explains some of what I am looking for but not entirely and most of it is for BE2010. The BE 2012 documentation from DD is not up to date yet. I am trying to setup backups as my tape drive has had enough and is not working properly. Anyone I have talked to just says you backup to it, then I continue finding little things that need to be done. No verify, no precompression, some said no deduplication in the job, other said server side dedupe because DDBoost manages it with OST plugin. Too much information and not enough people knowing what to tell me. The DD weekend support guys don't know the software titles they just know the hardware. I need help now unfortunately... Question: What settings do I use for Backups? I have Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL agents.6.4KViews1like32CommentsGDPR Training Essential for Compliance
It’s no longer a question of if, it’s now a question of when a data breach occurs. You don’t have to monitor the news too closely to see the frequency and scale of these incidents - Uber, Equifax, Saks Fifth Avenue . The list of the worst continues to grow.5KViews5likes0CommentsSerious Error
Dear, good morning. I would like to make clear in this discussion, the importance that we give the integrity of our data, in particular our emails. We constantly see people everywhere reporting infections on their desktops and applications, but I do not see reporting as contracted. Importance would be a good integrity of our emails because we feed them well (cybercriminals) with new weapons by obtaining data on which they should not. Social networks registered with corporate e-mail, blogs registered with corporate e-mail etc., make each day are more targeted. As security expert, I always make sure that after all always looking for a culprit for a serious infection or destructive, and at the end of everything as it always has to have a fault, this is a security solution, but we learn that , we have to create its own policy of security as well. Attached to this discussion, is a video explaining the step taken by an attacker to collect e-mails and perform intrusion attempts with new weapons all the time are created by these criminals. Remember, a cracker does not use steps "maldados," they create their own weapons and new weapons to attack, so we never have a 100% solution, but if you create a good security policy in yourself, then it will be secured 100%, because a good percentage depends on your security solution, and so another good percentage is up to you forever! I hope you enjoyed. Big hug to everyone.Solved3.1KViews1like12CommentsBackup Netapp CIFS Shares with BE2012
I have just installed BE 2012 to backup my newly installed Netapp FAS 2220A. When I try to add a new job on the Netapp filer name it does not recognize the username/password but can see Netapp as a server and Access is denied ( full access for everyone is configured on the Netapp share ). It is Keep on asking for a username/password even after providing the domain admin account. If I try to access the same name\share of the Netappfrom Run command I can access it without any problem. Any idea where is the problem. ApurSolved2.6KViews2likes13Commentsjob status - complete with exceptions

Hello All, One small and good question, I am planning for Synthetic backups, I know the process how it works but one thing I am unable to understand is as Synthetic backup is nothing to do with the client, For example sunday regular full backup then mon-fri Incrementals, Do I need to have all these backup medias in the library for synthetic backups.? Because we usually send medias offsite next day of the backup. Thanks NasserSolved2KViews1like5CommentsNETBACKUP REPORT STATUS 0 AND DO NOT INFORMATION JOB SIZE
Hi Guys! Good Morning, The more a month I'm having trouble generating the volumetric report using the OpsCenter because the netbackup is not computing the amount of data copied. Found that, in both is generating the same data, so I believe the problem is not the OpsCenter. Someone had seen this problem? Good evening all, I am currently researching regulation in community/citizen scientist biotechnology and the difficulties involved with regulating an industry once it is in the hands of the citizenry, and lately I have been considering a slightly different approach that could potentially avoid this problem. I have been drawing from examples in the computer industry (especially for the open-source trend) and remembered Symantec's response to the Conficker virus. My understanding is that there is a group of programmers (forgive my ignorance, this is not my field at all!) that try to prevent viruses and respond to them as soon as they are discovered. Is there a site at which I could access the specific policies under which these programmers operate? How about strategies (I know there is an instant update system in your antivirus tool, and I would imagine a notification system should I come across a truly novel virus that updates the information to these programmers, or is my speculation incorrect?). There are some specifics I would like to compare with the possibility of implementing a "task force" of a similar nature in dealing with human viruses and biological threats posed by certain extremist groups. Thanks for your time, -Ben.Solved1.7KViews0likes2Comments
