Macintosh DLO Agent unable to authenticate
I'm evaluating DLO 9 to hopefully upgrade our DLO 7 server and consolidate our Windows and Mac backups. However, I have been unable to get the Mac DLO agent to launch successfully. It installs fine and can find the DLO server but it always comes back with an "Unable to Authenticate User" error when I try to log in. As far as I can tell all network barriers have been removed and I am having no problems on the Windows side. All of the troubleshooting info I've found says that it's the result of an incorrect password but I have tested it on several machines with about a dozen known-good accounts with no luck. Both clients and server are members of the same Active Directory so I'm not sure what's going on.1KViews0likes1CommentNetbackup service auto start on OS X 10.10.x
Hello, I have installed NetBackup 7.6.1 agent (with 7.6.1.1 update) in several OS X 10.10.x systems and it seems to work, except for one problem. It does not start automaticaly after a client reboot. I searched for a solution for this problem and found this post from 15/April/2015 (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-service-auto-start-os-x-1010). I am running NetBackup 7.6.1.1 and I can install the client on a Mac OS X 10.10.3 and 10.10.4. After the client installation I am able to run a backup. As soon as the client reboots, the NetBackup agent does not start automaticaly. If I go to "/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/" and run "./netbackup start" on a terminal window with root privileges, then the agent start and I can perform backups again. Also works with a "sudo /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all". How can I define the NetBackup agents to run automaticaly os OS X 10.10.x ?? I have already checked the folders and files: Macintosh OSX /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/Resources/netbackup /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/StartupParameters.plist /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/netbackup How can I know that the "StartupParameters.plist" is correct? Hi, I recently encountered a problem with one of our backup jobs. If it succeeds it usually backs up 3,5 TB od data from an OS X server that has a couple of iSCSI shares connected to it. Two weeks ago this full backup failed after backing up 1,34TB of data with this error: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000ff11 - A communications failure has occurred with a Linux or Unix resource. Final error category: Resource Errors And the next days daily backup failed with this error: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000ff11 - A communications failure has occurred with a Linux or Unix resource. Final error category: Resource Errors I checked on the server and it turned out that the agent was not running, I tried to restart it, but it did not start, so I reinstalled it and run a test backup, which worked. I thought it was a one time thing and left it like that for this week. This week the backup failed again, this time after backing up 1,36TB which seems to close to last weeks 1,34TB to be an accident. It failed with the same error and the agent is again not responding. I googled the error of course and found this: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH195179.html But I can't find the 'Back up contents of soft-linked directories' option. All I see is this: and this: Do you guys have any ideas what could be causing this? And where do I find 'Back up contents of soft-linked directories' option? Did the name of it change? I am using BE 2014. Thanks in advance. JakubSolved1KViews0likes6CommentsRandom failure with status code 23
Hi all, Could someone point me in the right direction? I have this problem which randomly occurs . I am backing up a physical client (mac OS X 10.6.8) and this client has 2 volumes. Most of the times the backup runs successfully. but now and then the backup fails with status 23. I can connect to the client via telnet on port 13782 DNS resolving works to. I would like to request that Symantec develop/create a proper Macintosh installer for the Backup Exec Agent. The tools for creating the installer are already available from Apple via the Developer Tools Package Maker. This would make it a lot simpiler to install the product than the way to do it now. At the very least, includ instructions for installing the agent. The last several versions that have been downloaded did not have any instructions of any type. I needed to search online to find the proper instructions.535Views1like1CommentSupport for Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
According to Backup Exec 2012 Software Compatibility List, created November 20, 2013 (http://kbdownload.symantec.com/resources/sites/BUSINESS/content/live/TECHNICAL_SOLUTION/175000/TECH175581/en_US/be_2012_scl.pdf?__gda__=1386001822_90bc1616b23eb83b4025552d154f05c7) The last supported version for Mac OS X is 10.7. However Mac OS X 10.8 came out in July of 2012 and Mac OS X 10.9 came out in October 2013. We are currently trying to install Backup Exec 2012 14.0 SP2 in Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. We extracted the LinuxUnixMac files as per instructions at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO73771. Please be aware that there are serious data loss issues ongoing with Mac OSX Maverics and Western Digital drive sofware. Both the Apple support and WD forums have mutiple customer reports of total external drive data loss. The data loss is not limited to systems activly using the WD software and drives, other vendor external hard drives are being lost. Personally I just lost 1TB of Time machine backups on a Iomega external drive. I did have a WD myBook for a while about 2 years ago but was not aware the WD drive software was still active on this machine. Current advice from Western Digital is to uninstall the WD drive software before going to Mavericks. Uninstaller is here ..... http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=126&sid=214&lang=en This situation as already caused a lot of digital pain, loss of data and as a techincal person makes me sad in so many ways. Everything I'm seeing points to us not being able to bring the older G5's that we have (PowerPC's). Is there another way, eg: using a version RALUS, 2012 RAMS agent, I saw a thread that suggest the 2012 RAMS, but no subsequent posts. There are other platforms out there using Pwr PC , just wondering, appreciate ALL responses.
