Recovery Assistance with Rapid Recommendations
In a perfect utopian world without adversaries, we wouldn't need post-quantum cryptography. But until we get there, the importance of protecting your data against current and potential future threats cannot be over-estimated. With malicious actors and nation-states attempting to harvest-now-decrypt-later, replacing asymmetric key cryptographic algorithms to post-quantum algorithms is no longer a choice.Did a catalogue restore, but seem to have missing information.
So I did a catalogue restore (full one) which honestly I felt went sideways. It said it finished partially but the only errors I could find were IOC_CHFLAG_SET errors. I had my profiles, on the file system the DB was backup to it's 375GB range. So I assumed all the data was loaded. When I login to the JavaGUI, ALL my volume pools are gone ALL my tapes are in 1 pool now. Is this normal? Because on the old system We had volume pools for each job which had tapes in it (We don't backup daily, we archive data so it goes on tape once and that's it so I believe that's why they used volume pools when they set it up ages ago). Either way. It just feels to me like I'm missing Data, and I'm not sure what to do now. I've opened a ticket but I'm running out of hours I can say "it's good let's test" vs "we need to roll back" (Let's just say it's been a long week getting to this point).176Views0likes5CommentsNB Master Server migration to the new HW
Hello, I would like to migrate my current NB Master Server 10.1.1 running on Windows 2012 R2 (VMware) to the brand new server running on Windows 2022 (VMware), whole env. includes over 20 Dell DataDomains as target storages and over 20 Media Servers. Are there any general recommendations? Do you have any experience with similar migration? I found following migration tool https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/downloads/update.UPD162444 but I could not find any real cases how it works and so on. Other way how to do it would be catalog recovery but that would take too much time which I cannot afford at the moment. Or does it make a sense to build a new NB Master Server, do the re-configuration there of the storages, Media servers, policies etc. and leaving the old NB Master Server running behind till the backed-up data reach expiration point? Or is there any way how to export the configurations? How does it work with the certificates? Is it possible to have same token on both old and new NB Master Servers? Thank you. Good afternoon. Yesterday I carried out an agentless VMware recovery. The recovery was only partially completed, of the 342,000 files 76 were not restored. Is there a log that will give me a list of the 76 files that were not restored? I have been looking in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/tar/agentless/ but cannot find a definitive list of the failed files. Thank you.640Views0likes1CommentRecovery Without import (very awkward situation)
Hello, I have run into very awkward sitaution here, our client is running Netbackup 6.0 (i know its EOL) on solaris and they recently purchased Netbackup 8.1.2. So they want to import all the Backup info(all client and their backups) from old server into this new server so that if any request of old restore comes, it will be served from this new server. Is it even possible to achieve this!!!? I have been reading about the "Recovery without import" white paper and it says somthing about cat_export and cat_import step. but the problem is there is no Cat_export command on source (NB 6.0) server. I have done the step where it sas to copy the contents of /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images to the destination server. I cant brows the backup of any client of old server as there isn't any info about them in NBU GUI (BAR window). i do have the backup tape of catalog of old server. Waiting for your kind response.Solved1.5KViews0likes5Comments
