Netbackup service auto start on OS X 10.10.x
Hello, I have installed NetBackup 7.6.1 agent (with 7.6.1.1 update) in several OS X 10.10.x systems and it seems to work, except for one problem. It does not start automaticaly after a client reboot. I searched for a solution for this problem and found this post from 15/April/2015 (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-service-auto-start-os-x-1010). I am running NetBackup 7.6.1.1 and I can install the client on a Mac OS X 10.10.3 and 10.10.4. After the client installation I am able to run a backup. As soon as the client reboots, the NetBackup agent does not start automaticaly. If I go to "/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/" and run "./netbackup start" on a terminal window with root privileges, then the agent start and I can perform backups again. Also works with a "sudo /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all". How can I define the NetBackup agents to run automaticaly os OS X 10.10.x ?? I have already checked the folders and files: Macintosh OSX /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/Resources/netbackup /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/StartupParameters.plist /Library/StartupItems/netbackup/netbackup How can I know that the "StartupParameters.plist" is correct? Thanks in advance José RoqueSolved3.4KViews3likes19CommentsRALUS backup job fails with "A communications failure has occurred".

Dears ,,, Greetings, we have Symantec Backup Exec 2012 Version 14.0 Rev. 1798 (64-bit) installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. We used to have a remote agent for oracle (Symantec symbdsnap, build 2.0.1-1783) installed on a Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.8 64-bit Kernal 2.6.32-300.10.1.el5uek and it was working fine. Recently, we have updated the operating system to Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.10 64-bit kernal 2.6.39-400.209.1.el5uek. The agent is being installed successfully but when go through the log it says (This platform is not supported. Exiting install.VxIF::Error:: ERROR: Installing SymSnap Driver Failed.). Is there a another version or anyother way to deploy an agent for Backup Exec on this server.2.9KViews0likes9CommentsRemote Agent Download Links

I just upgraded from 2010 R2 to R3 (5204). The media server is a Windows 2008. I also installed Service Pack 2. One of the main reasons was to get the media server to work with new agents. So i have installedVRTSralus-13.0.5204-0.x86_64.deb in two Ubuntu/Linux servers, but when trying to connect to those servers i get a message like this (screenshot also attached): "Backup Exece cannot establish a trust relationship with the remote agent because of a security certificate signing request failure..." Hi, I have a very weird problem and I'm hoping somebody can help me because I have pretty limited experience with Netbackup. Here's the scenerio: I have a Red Hat Linux box that I'd like to backup in my Netbackup 6.5.3 environment. So I grabbedNetBackup_6.5_CLIENTS2.tar.gz, unpacked it and ran the install script. Here's the problem. The install script runs, unpacks some files and puts them in the usual spot (/usr/openv) but that's it. It doesn't create anything in /etc/xinetd.d so they agents never start. Consequently nothing's listen on 13782 and my server can't connect. But the script runs fine - there's no error. So pulling through the install script (I'm better at scripting than I am at netbackup so I went this route) I see that this install script calls 2 other scripts. First it calls${MY_CD_PATH}/NBClients/catalog/anb/client.inst ${Trace_File} and then it can call/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/install_bp Now it looks like the install_bp script is what does the real meat of the installation - it creates the services at least. However that script never runs. It never runs because it's in an if block that looks like this: if [ -f ${TMPDIR}/do_install_bp.$$.status ] So I go hunting for what creates that file and you find a block higher up that looks like this: if [ "${client_CD}" = "no" ] so I go looking for what controls that and I find another if block that looks like this: if [ ! -d "${MY_CD_PATH}/NBClients" ] So - what we see if, if I have a folder in my install directory named NBClient then it doesn't install the services and I do have that folder so my services don't get installed. I can follow that What doesn't make sense is the logic behind the scenes. The reason I have this folder is because the tarball put it there - I didn't do that. So the install process is creating a folder that ruins the install process. I'd be happy to runinstall_bp by hand but i'm not sure what else I might be missing - who knows what could happen - recursive rm as part of the cleanup? Who knows. I'd rather not risk it and I'd rather have this install make sense. So has anybody had this problem? It looks to me like this script would never ever work but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks in advance for any help.Solved1.9KViews0likes7Comments
