New NetBackup Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS) exams now available!
Veritas Education Services is in the process of updating all the Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS) high-stakes certification exams. I’m very excited to announce that the first two exams available for registration are the VCS-282: Veritas NetBackup 9.1 Administrator and the VCS-283: Veritas NetBackup 9.1 and NetBackup Appliance 4.1 Administrator exams. These exams are designed to target candidates in an administrative role and measure competencies of core elements such as configuration, product administration, day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting (diagnosis and/or repair). Upon passing either of these exams, you’ll receive your associated certification and your digital badge that is awarded through our partner company, Credly. This award counts toward the requirements for your Veritas Certified Professional (VCP) certification in Data Protection. To see more details and learn how to prepare for taking these exams, visit the associated exam web page. On this page, you’ll see the passing score, the number of questions delivered on the exam, and suggested preparation. In addition, we created a Sample Exam that shows you the types of questions you’ll see on the exam and provides you with practice. You’ll also find an Exam Preparation Guide that matches the exam objectives to courseware and other documentation that you can study to prepare for passing the exam. VCS Simulator 7.0
Hello all. VCS simulator has been around for quite a while and it is a really usefull tool both for testing cluster configuration files before put them in production and for DEMO purposes which is my case and that's why I'm writing this post. Is there any user guide or document explaining how to use or how are configured the included cluster configuration examples? I've been able to understand some cluster examples and use some features, but some other cluster examples seem like some configuration is required to make them work but as there's no information (to my knowledge) on how they are configured, I haven't been able to find a way to make this cluster examples work. Really appreciate any guidance that points my into the right direction.

Hello Experts, As part of a monitoring solution, we have been relying upon the presence of below registry keys to detect presence of a VCS on Windows, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\VC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\VCS\Base This however seems to be unreliable leading to false positives. I want an approach(could be a registry key/value) to detect a VCS with certinity on a Windows. Thank you! Ashish
VCS on Linux using NPAR and VLAN tagging
I’m trying to enable a new configuration using NPAR and VLAN tagging to create private heartbeat networks. Which tool should I use to create my heartbeat interfaces which need to be vlan tagged? Does anyone know if the tagged interface should share the MAC of the real interface or should I try to create a unique MAC through software? Thanks
Replicating CFS volumes
I have a two nodes VCS cluster on the Production and the same configuration on the DR site. I have six disk groups, each disk group contain one or two volumes mounted as CFS on both cluster nodes. I need to replicate all volumes from Prod to DR using Veritas Volume Replicator. What is the best way to replicate thoses volumes? PS: There is no communication between the VCS on prod and DR execpt for the IPs that will be used for replciation.
