11d vs 12 Enterprise Vault

Hi

 

I've got a client with Backup Exec 11d SBS premium.  They are purchasing Enterprise Vault, but this raises an interesting issue.  From what I can find there are not Enterprise Vault Agents for 11d, only BE12.  Is this correct?

 

If I'm not correct can I purchase an Enterprise Vault Agent for BE12 and downgrade it to 11d as I'm unable to locate anywhere we can buy an 11d version.

    To protect Enterprise vault with Backup Exec 11d you will need to follow the steps in the Enterprise Vault Admin guide.  There wasn't an agent for 11d but there has been one added to 12, but adding a 12 EV license to 11d wouldn't work.  Basically what you will do is create 2 batch files that will run as pre and post commands in your backup exec job.  The first command will stop the EV services and the Second command will start them once the job completes.  This will allow you to backup the EV data.
