  • Yes and choose the first option, automatic
  • If you did not enable AOF in your job, enable it and rerun the job
  • Yes and choose the first option, automatic
  • Thanks !!

    • But one more question, with BE 12, I haven't choose this option but no this exception. Why ??
    • Otherwise, can "Test Run" check the exceptions still happen after AOF was selected ??

    - BE 12 + SEP 11

    - BE 2012 + SEP 12

  • 1. It could be that SEP 11 handles things differently. 2. No. A test run will not tell you whether there will be these exceptions because a test run does not access the files You should always enable AOF when you are doing file backups
  • Hi William,

    Check the article given below.

This issue is resolved with BE 2012 version, however, as you still face the issue, try the workaround given (exclude the current version directory as there are definition files and not necessary to be backed up) and check if it fixes your issue.

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH201315

Also, ensure BE 2012 is installed with latest patch SP3.

If issue still persists, I'd suggest to create a support case for Symantec to investigate further.

Let me know if the workaround resolves your issue.

    Thanks.

  • Hi DNI_1,

    - BE 2012 already installed, can I update it to sp3 directly ??

    - I havve Excluded that SEP folder, anyway to test ?? (but not run real backup)

  • ...if you've excluded the folder then the job should run. Backup Exec will (well) exclude the folder and not scan it at all.

Check LiveUpdate for any patches available...if SP3 doesn't show up then it is installed. However, DO install any additional patches and push-install these to your remote servers.

    Thanks!

  • William,

Yes, you can update directly to SP3. The best way would be to just run live update through Backup Exec (BE icon --> Installation and Licensing --> Live Update). If the server is Windows 2008/ 2008 R2, you may need to disable UAC from Windows before initiating live update process through Backup Exec.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway to test (Excluded SEP folder)??

Once added under exclusion list, it shouldn't be backed up any longer. You may test by the following:

    1. Create a test backup job for the local server.

    2. In the selection list, include the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion  and any other small directory.

    3. Run the test backup. You would find only the other small directory being  backed up.
