Excluding files not working

Hello,

I've setup on my backup system to exclude certain files Via Manage Selections\Excludes and its been working fine but all of a sudden its stopped working.

I've tried closing Backup Exec completely (12.5 version if you need to know), stopping all the services and restarting them but its still showing on the test run as backing everything up and i need it to work properly please.

HELP!!!!

    Right scrap what i've just done above instead of making a new backup selection, so i went back to how your supposed to do in the "manage selection\excludes" selection and  i normally setup in the excludes list as followed;

    Path: \\servername\D:\

    File: *.*avi; *.*mp3; *.*jpg ........ etc, several files at once.

    and i've had to do 1 file at a time now which is stupid really and was time consuming to do because i have a lot of jobs :(, Example of what I've had to do now;

    First Entry;

    Path: \\servername\D:\

    File: *.*avi

    Second Entry

    Path: \\servername\D:\

    File: *.*mp3

    Can Symantec Find out why in the BLUE HELL it's done that??

    Don't really know why working excludes would stop working

     

    Can you post your selection criteria?

    Well all i have done is;

    Path \\servername\D:\

    Then for the file selection i've put, *.jpg; *.mp3; *.avi; *.bmp....... etc and i've set some to exclude if not accessed in 30 days and some exclude altogether

    Dont know whats going on

    Have you tried deleting and the recreating the excludes?

    Any other weirdnesses in the system? 

     

    If recreating the Excludes doesn't work, you can try a repair of the BEDB using BEUtil

    I've tried to run the BEUtility.exe and i got a message saying;

    " Warning: the Backup Exec Utility should be used only with the guidance of Symantec Technical support.

    Improper use of this utility can result in configuration changes that may prevent Backup Exec from running.

    Do you want to continue?"

    Is it pretty straight forward to use??

    I havent had any errors that i think might effect it apart from, i've run out of space.

    I've ran the BEutility and it hasnt made a difference I'm afraid :(

    any more suggestions???

    The only error i can see are errors saying the test run has failed but i think thats because there isn't enough space on the storage box but i've tried test runs to see if the size decreases after adding the files i want to exclude but it hasnt :( :(.

    I've also tried going back into Edit\Manage Selections list\Excludes, removing all the files i wanted excluding and then tried adding the files a want to exclude on a single backup job and re-running the testrun and the file size is still the same.

    Also Restarted the services after every adjustment i made as well.

    If you open the backup job properties, do you see the exclusions listed ?

    Also, do you see partial ticks in the selection list ?
