File format and naming
Where can I locate documentation about the file format and naming used by Backup Exec (various versions)?
Given a directory containing a backup (incremental or set of indepentent recovery points) can I see from the file names if the backup was complete and successfull or if it is corrupted for any possible reason (maybe due to a power failure during backup)?
Regards
mario
Backup Exec created BKF files and IMG folders (ignoring the complications for deduplicatipon anyway as you shoud not really try to look in dedup folders)
IMG folders are IMGnnnnn
BKF files are B2Dnnnnn.bkf
You look in the job log list you can see sucessful backups and if you open each job log you can see the media names
Note: except for DR of the whole Backup Exec server do not replicate or take copies of the BKF files and IMG folders outside of Backup Exec, due to maintaining consistency against the relationships within Backuo Exec (see this article for more details http://www.veritas.com/docs/000015327) If you need copies on tape or secondary disk locations then run duplicate jobs.
