HOW to Clean Drive in BackupExec 2010

How to run Tape Clean job in Backup exec 2010 ?

  •

You can create and schedule a cleaning job for a robotic library drive. Additionally,
Backup Exec automatically cleans a robotic library drive when the drive issues a
tape alert that it requires cleaning.
Before submitting a cleaning job, you must define a cleaning slot that contains
    the cleaning tape

    To run a cleaning job

1 On the navigation bar, click Devices.

2 Click the drive or robotic library containing the drive, and then select the
    drive.

3 Under Drive Tasks in the task pane, select Clean
    .
4 To specify a job name or a job priority, in the Properties pane, under Settings,
    click General.

5 If you want a person or group to be notified when the job completes, in the
Properties pane, under Settings, click Notification and select the options
    you want.

6 If you want to run the job now, click RunNow. Otherwise, on the Properties
pane, under Frequency, click Schedule to set the scheduling options you
    want to use.

  • To clean a stand-alone tape drives, you just put in the cleaning tape and it will automatically eject after the drive is cleaned.

For a library, you need to put a cleaning tape into a slot and designated the slot as a cleaning slot in BE.  After that, you right-click on the library and select clean.

    • How you design the slot as a cleaning slot in BE ?
How to schedudle the Cleaning tasks ?
