How to upgrade BE2012 to BE2016

Hi, we're planning to upgrade our backup software BE2012 to BE2016 what will be  the best practice? How about the license on BE2012 can I use it on BE2016 to no-cost upgrade? Thanks

    BE 16 only runs on 64-bits servers, so you can only do an in-place upgrade if your BE server is currently a 64-bits server.  Check the BE 16 SCL.  Likewise check the BE 16 SCL to make sure all your software are supported.  Support for some of the older software has been removed in BE 16.

    You would need a new set of licence keys for BE 16 which you can get for free if you are on a current maintenance contract.

    Before upgrading, make a copy of the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory, in case anything goes wrong.
