Sending E-Mail Alerts

I have 2010R2 on SBS 2008.

It won't send mail alerts out. I've tried via the exchange installation & via an authenticated smtp server outside the LAN.

I see nothing in the exchange event logs or message tracking logs & nothing in the firewall logs show any smtp traffic is going out (other than general corporate mail).

From the SBS box I can telnet in to the external smtp server. When I hit the Test button in BackupExec I get the message that it has queued but then nothing.

How can I look at the "queue" and how can I check that BE is actually sending the mail? As far as I can see it doesn't look as though it is generating the test message.

In case of any antivirus on backup server please disable it , it might be blocking the traffic

  • If you have additional information, you should edit your previous post to add it in, rather than posting again.

  • Before anything  you can check if you are able to send the emai notificatin through TELNET. Please see the following technote for the same. This will isolate the problem if the issue lies with Backup Exec or communication with the Exchange server iteslf.

  • Sorry about the delay - have been away for a few days:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH53320 seemed to explain it - many thanks.
