Support for Dell PowerVault 124t

We recently purchased a Dell PowerVault 124t with a Certance LTO2 drive and it is not compatible with Backup Exec 9.1. Specifically, Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 does not recognize the library.

Does Veritas have plans to release a driver or a patch that will allow Backup Exec 9.1 to recognize and use the Dell PowerVault 124t?

  • Hello,
    - The tape may not be detected due to several reasons, to know if it is supported by backup exec please check the HCL below.

    - Even though a tape does not appear here, it may be used with backup exec, you are required to install the vendors device drivers.

  • Had similar problems with 2 different tape drives, one using 9.1 and the other using 10.0. Both were unrecognized by BE but could be seen by the disk management and NT backup. On both of them I upgraded BE to SP3 and at that point the windows certification window popped up saying the usual, "This device has not been tested.....", clicked ok and afterwards the drive was available for use in BE.
