Symantec Backup EXEC 2012 V-Ray Licensing

    If they are 5 processors then you'd need 5 licenses(I am still wondering why the physical server is being given a V-Ray license. It could work with a normal Backup Exec 2012 license). Backup Exec follows the same strategy like other virtualization enabling applications(like VMWare) as far V-Ray licenses are concerned. The Backup Exec V-Ray edition can be extended to protect physical systems by purchasing and Agent for Applications and Databases for each supported application instance running on a physical system. You can also protect physical systems running Windows, Linux, or Mac by purchasing Agent for Windows, Agent for Linux, or Agent for Mac for each physical system to be protected. 

As such, buying another V-Ray edition license may be costlier as compared to protecting the server with just 2-3 Agent for Application and Databases and one Agent for Windows. Again, the sales executive/reseller/partner may be able to give you more details on it.
