Upgrading to BE 2010 R3

I plan on upgrading next week our BE environment from BE 2010 R2 to BE 2010 R3.  Do I need to recreate all my backup jobs after the upgrade?  Or all my jobs going to be carried over?

Thanks..

  • Hi there,

All your settings will be carried over, and the upgrade is very straight-forward. Just follow the wizard, and put in the same license keys you are currently using.

What I do advise though, is to grab a copy of your Data and Catalogs folders BEFORE running the upgrade, and if you have an antivirus, stop it during the upgrade...I have seen corruption on the BEDB due to an antivirus blocking the SQL Express upgrade.

Stop your BE services, copy those 2 folders to another location, and start your upgrade...

    Thanks!

EDIT: Check below on how to run the direct upgrade. This is an official Symantec TN:

  • No need to recreate jobs, inplace upgrade will retain all the jobs and settings.

Before proceeding with the upgrade make a copy of DATA & CATALOGS folder.

Above folders are located at X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exe\
