vmware backup job stay queued

My new install Backup Exec 15 FP3 on windows 2008 R2 SP1.

I try to backup vmware vsphere 5.1 guests.

But one vm cannot backup.

Job can take snapshot and stay queued forever.

I just change transport mode from SAN or NBD but not work.

Job stay "queued" and  if I cancel it stay "cancel pending".

I need to kill beremote process to stop the job then delete the job.

If I don't delete the job, it'll start after restart BE services.

  • ...check to see if there are any pending alerts and respond to them.

Also check to see if there are any orphansed snapshots within VMware, as well as free disk space in the datastore in which the VM is located.

    Thanks!

  • Hi CraigV

It recent have some consolidate issue so I clone to new VM.

The datastore has many free space.

I have no idea why backup job don't start to transfer data.

I also test backup other vm in same datastore and same host and it work fine.

  • do not use ESXi 5.1 or vCenter 5.1 , it's have Third part backup API and Snapshot issue , even if you backup ESXi 5.1 VM's there is no guaranty that you can restore them . (probably they have data consistency errors or BE hangs at restore) .

please take a look at :

in my opinion dont even use 5.1 U2 or U3 instead upgrade your servers to ESXi 5.5 U2 or U3 .

    thanks!

  • You might then want to relook at creating a job just to back up that server. If it succeeds, then deselect the server in the original job and reselect it.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you mgmasterv2 I'll open support case to confirm that with customer.
