Accessing Archived email from On-Premise EV

Question

Once Emails are migrated from Exchange On-Premise to O365 , Can user still access old archived email which are still on EV 9 On prem from outlook or EV web url&nbsp;...

There have been a few discussions about this &nbsp;It is possible that as long as the EV Add-in is active in the Outlook profile the user maybe able to double click and view the message. &nbsp;This wouldn't last long and should not be counted on as a viable solution. &nbsp;
	
	If your shortcuts have links in them the user would be able to use that, as long as they are on VPN or on the network.
	
	Yes, you could use EV Search.asp or ArchiveExplorerUI.asp.
	
	Best bet is to migrate the EV archives to O365 if users need the data long term.

i wouldnt count on them being able to access it in outlook. we actually just discussed this on the forum yesterday&nbsp;https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/can-ev-stubs-work-retrieval-when-moved-office-365

Tony / Andrew, how about Journal will that continue to function or fail as well if left on prem.

Yes, you can journal on-prem:

	Basically, you will need at least one on-prem Exchange server with a journal mailbox, then you can

T&nbsp;set up on-premise journaling, complete the following steps:

1&nbsp;

To set up on-premise journaling, go to&nbsp;https://login.microsoftonline.com/.

2&nbsp;

Log in to your administrative account.

3&nbsp;

Select&nbsp;Admin/Exchange&nbsp;from the menu in the upper right.

4&nbsp;

Select&nbsp;Compliance Management.

5&nbsp;

Select&nbsp;Journal Rules.

6&nbsp;

If there is an existing rule, delete it.

7&nbsp;

Add a journal rule and specify the email address of the journal mailbox.

When sending mail to or from one of the users in the Office 365 tenant, an envelope journal report will be sent to the email address specified in the journal rule. The messages will arrive from Office 365 in a local Exchange mailbox and be archived by the EV Journaling Task.

if you decide to keep journaling on prem then i'd recommend upgrading to EV 11 so you can use SMTP archiving and eliminate the requirement for the Exchange server and journal mailboxes.
