Hi Bjorn,
the fingerprint database names cannot be changed as it would break functionality
- JesusWept3Level 6I think you can change the name in SQL server and update the FP catalog table in the enterprise vault directory database But I don't think that's supported, and honestly can't think of anreason why you'd want to do it either
- Nick_WhiteLevel 6
That would definitely not be supported

Ok, not supported, but would a SQL guru be able to do the changes?
The reason I am asking is that when you upgrade from 7.5 to 8.0, you get a VSG called Default Upgrade Group. If you don't change that before you create sharing within group, you get a name of the Fingerprint Database called EVVSGDefaultUpgradeGroup_1_1.
In the EnterpriseVaultDirectory, we have a table called dbo.FingerprintCatalogueDatabase where the Database name is displayed, together with the SQL Server name.
We are able to change SQL server easily. Wouldn't it be just as easy to rename a "helping" database like the Fingerprint Database is? (I know I'm pushing it, but I don't want to just "accept no for an answer"

Why does it matter what the DB name is ? I mean what problem does it cause ?
- FreKac2Level 6
I'm not sure about the reason here but I don't think that it looks good.
Not from an aesthetic point of view but from a "who-did-the-upgrade" point of view.
I've seen some upgrades that I've later been asked to look at, whenever I see "Default Upgrade Group" I get suspicous :)
Most of the time when I see that, no sharing is configured and they have been running for 6-12months without SIS.
I get even more suspicous when I see Express Vault Store Group on a production system :) (luckily those are very few).
I guess one way to change it is to create new VS-Groups and VS and then move/migrate the archives.
But that is a lot of work for, I guess, not much gain from a functionality perspective.

The database isn't just a "helping" database, it contains data that is critical to EV operations, especially expiry and deletion and OSIS. Do not attempt to change the database names as you will end up with a system that cannot be supported and most likely will not work at all
- JesusWept3Level 6Firstly that has to be flat out wrong, because you can create new vault store groups with any names you want, as long as it's name correctly But really, who cares what the name of the databases are? It's transparent to the users, it's even transparant to 99% of all of evadmins

The SQL Administrator that has created his own monitoring GUIs cares about the names:
FreKac: SIS is turned on, but I admit that I was a but fast on creating the SIS database. i.e. before I saw the terrible name of the group :)

I think your only option is to add this to the Ideas section in the forums... but I personally can't see it getting much weight/emphasis compared with other aspects that need enhancing/attention. [That's purely my opinion, of course]
