Decommision MS Exchange 2003 - keep EV up

    Solution


    Support is often asked how to move Enterprise Vault Servers between domains.  This is indeed possible, however, due to the complex nature, specific planning surrounding individual environments it is not possible for support to provide or validate documentation on how this could be achieved.  Further details on what is covered via Support can be found in your Support Agreement.
     
    RESOLUTION
    It is recommended that Professional Services assistance be obtained in order to verify and plan this correctly.

I am slightly confused regarding 1 of the steps to decommsion MS Exchange from EV.  Step 5 says

"If there are any mailboxes associated with the Exchange server to be decommissioned, move the mailbox as per Microsoft's article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821829 "

All of my legacy mailboxes are still asscoiated with this old Exchange server.  There is nowhere I can move them and have no reason to do so.  I simply want to shut down the Exchange server and continue proviiiding users with how this vault currently functions. They simply access through IE or Archive Explorer - not Outlook.  There is no data in Exchange that needs to be kept.
