EV11 - Exchange Email category - Search

My users only have access to their emails via the search vaults screen.

Some users heavily use the email categories, and have lost the functionality.

Is there any way for the users to see the email categories, or seach by them?

  • "My users only have access to their emails via the search vaults screen." is that a concern or just a statement?

unfortunately, there doesnt seem to be a way with the new EV search but here's a workaraound and an idea that you can vote on. https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/simplify-search-within-enterprise-vault-when-outlook-categories-are-use

  • Hi Andrew,

The first part was just a statement.

I also don't get an option to search "other values" or "keys" when entering that URL.

This is the URL i enter:

    http://EVServer/EnterpriseVault/search.asp?advanced

It just directs me to here:

    http://EVServer/EnterpriseVault/search/shell.aspx

  • looks like there's a virtual path configured in IIS which redirects you to the new search page

  • I am using the default install of 11.0.1 with no IIS customization.

It seems strange I am getting a different result to the user in the link you posted

  • looks the redirect alias is there by default with EV 11. the other user may have upgraded from an earlier version of EV.

  • I found the solution in EV11.

If you click your own name in the top right of the search window, and select preferences, then go to "advanced search" and tick the check box, you can then add the custom fields listed here:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO100395

That enabled me to use the "keys" field as described in the link you provided.

    Thanks for your help
