Migration using NBU when tapes may not be available

Hi,

IHAC who is wanting to use the collect/migrate feature of EV with NBU. They want to implement this in such a way that the tapes will not be available automatically in NBU.

Is this a supported configuration? What can we expect to see with this configuration in terms of the process for adding the right tapes etc. in NBU?

Thanks!

  • It doesn't make entirely much sense, especially in a compliance scenario when you are attempting to export email for a discovery case with a legal deadline And then if you have to rebuild an index (say for converting to 64bit or a disaster recovery) then you will spend a lot of time getting the tapes to be available and a painfully long downtime waiting for what tapes are needed next All that will happen though is when the process needs the item it will simply timeout

  • Will it prompt on the NBU console for the tape initially and then time out in EV? If we get the tape in before the timeout will it work? Do you happen to know what the max timeout we can set in EV is?

  • In the partition properties there is an option called User Wait Timeout http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH164943
