Terminated employees, permissions and licensing

I have a process to archive a terminated employee's mailbox to EV after 30 days. After 180 days, we delete the AD account and mailbox from Exchange. Once I delete the mailbox from Exchange, what happens to the mailbox in EV? For licensing purposes, if I disable the mailbox in EV, how can I give permissions to the archived email in the future?
  • One caveat, if the AD account that is the Bill To for an archive is deleted from AD you will need to change the Bill To on the Archive's properties page, otherwise you will not be able to add permissions to it. ;)

  • Disabling the mailbox in EV just stops it from being archived. The actual archived data can still be accessed. You would apply permissions to the archive from the admin console in order to allow someone else to have access.

  • Here are some technotes that will help with your query too :)
