5240 new remote installation

Hi all,

I need to install the 2.7.3 Netbackup software on 2 new appliance 5240 on remote site. In my previous experience I used an usb key connected on machine, please could you suggest me alternative way to upload the software on the machine without fisical usb key ?

I'll work via IPMI, and I looked in the Menu --> Device --> Redirect Floppy/usb Key ? I don't understand how to work, do you think that can help me ?

thank you very much,

regards

  • If you are looking to re-image, yes, that will work.  You have to download the ISO file from your entitlement portal on my.veritas, and then you redirect the USB to the file you download inside the IPMI interface.

If these are new appliances, they should have shipped with 2.7.3 on them, though, so just out of curiosity, why re-image if they're brand new?  Did they not ship with 2.7.3?

All appliances are always shipped in factory installed state, ready for initial configuration.  Sometimes we have to update, sometimes we don't.  It just depends when the appliance was factory built and which version it was installed with and how long it has sat in a warehouse somewhere in relation to NetBackup releases and when Veritas start to factory install with different newer versions.  Basically you can never tell in advance exactly which version it will arrive with pre-installed, but it should always be a fairly recent version.

hello Chars, thank you for your help.

I thought that the appliance are shipped clear, and we had to install 2.7.3. I don't know that they shipped with software pre-installed, at this point I wait first machine.

In my previous experience, I remember to have uploaded the software via usb, probably with last release

      thank you
