Migrate existing setup to new appliance

Hello , we are considering the appliance solution and have the following two question ;

 

  1. Currently we have a NetBackup 7.1 running on a server how can we migrate it to the appliance ?
  2. How can I have an HA , can we implement a HA like having a cluster with two appliances ?

    1) End-Customers can't move catalogs between Windows and Unix/Linux.  That requires Professional Services.  Also, unless you're very careful when you order the Appliance, it will probably be shipped with a newer version of NetBackup and that will also prevent catalog moving.

     

    2) No, there is no clustering of Appliances.  The closest thing is using mutliple Appliances as destinations in a Storage Group used by a Storage Lifecycle Policy.

     

    With all that being said, if you're running Windows 2008 for your Master, why not just upgrade the Master's NetBackup and then add an Appliance as a Media Server?
