NBU Appliance media server fails to connect master server

Hi All,

I am trying to setup NBU 5240 as media server and when i try to add my Master server i encounter an error showing

- [Error] Unable to connect to the master server. Make sure the master server is pingable, and all the NetBackup processes are up and running.

My Master server is a VM machine with O.S Windows 2016; NBU version 8.1

My Media Server Is NBU App 5240; NBU version 3.1

Note:-

1. No firewall in between as this is a new setup and

2. Added my Appliance under Master server --> Host properties--> Additional servers.

3. I am able to ping from master to media and vice versa

4. Hosts files already in place

Thanks,

Nayab

  • It should work using files but are you 100% sure all name resolution works via your hosts files - FQDN and short names, forward and reverse. Also can each server resolve itself - FQDN, short, forward and reverse? Andrew

  • I notice that you are using uppercase hostnames.
Can you confirm that all entries in hosts files and NBU match exactly?

How did you go about adding hosts entries to the Appliance?
Bear in mind that the Appliance expect to have a shortname as well as FQDN in hosts file.
Adding entries via the CLISH expects this format:
    Hosts Add <ip> <FQDN> <short_name>

One more thing - did you remember to clear NBU host cache after adding hosts entries?
