Netbackup Appliance connected to Datacore SANsymphony -V 9.0

Hi,

I need information about OS installed on Netbackup Appliance. I have to connect the appliance to a DataCore SANsymphony -V 9.0 and the version that is supported by DataCore. I haven´t worked with Netbackup before but have to zoning the san and make this to work.

This is what I found out.

Supported Host Versions

  • SUSE Enterprise Linux 11.0 no Service Pack

Qualified for SANsymphony 7 PSP 4 Update 7 but not supported on ALUA-enabled Virtual Volumes.

Qualified for SANsymphony-V 8.x and 9.x but not supported on ALUA-enabled Hosts.

  • SUSE Enterprise Linux 11.0 SP1

Not supported on any version of SANsymphony or SANsymphony-V

  • SUSE Enterprise Linux 11.0 SP2

Not supported for SANsymphony 7 PSP 4 Update 7

Not qualified for SANsymphony-V 8.x

Not qualified for SANsymphony-V 9.x when not using ALUA-enabled Hosts

Qualified for SANsymphony-V 9.x only when using ALUA-enabled Hosts

Anyone who have more information about this?

  • Connecting external disk storage to NBU Appliances is not supported. Hence, in my understanding, your question does not make sense.

Anyway NBU Appliances run modified SLES10 version. Maybe new versions (5320) switched to SLES11.

  • The O/S is a modified version of SUSE Linux on the appliances

As kernels change with some patches just go into the O/S of the appliance (Support - Maintenenace - P@ssw0rd - elevate) and run:

    uname -a

You can also look under /etc where there should be a release file (possibly names SUSE-release)

    Hope this helps
