Netbackup Master Server Migration from Linux machine to Appliance

I have a query Folks,

Can we migrate Master Server from Linux machine to Appliance.

Problem:

Currenlty, I have Environment where Master server is running on Linux Machine and Appliance is configured as Media Server. A new appliance is bought, And now We want to migrate our master server on that new appliance. Is it possible.

  • Yes. It is possible.

Prepare the new Appliance as a master with same hostname and preferrably same IP address and same NBU version as current master server.

Switch off current master after the last catalog backup, make DR-file and backup device/media containing catalog backup available to Appliance master, then perform catalog recovery.

Using catalog backup and recovery to transfer NetBackup catalogs between UNIX or Linux master servers as part of a hardware refresh
