Backups are failing with message "licensed use has been exceeded 159"

Hi All,

For one of the Netbackup client in exchange DAG configuration , backups are failing with below message.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards

  • If Storage Unit in policy is attached to SAN Media server (Enterprise Client License), you need to check that the STU is configured with On Demand Only.

If not, please share details of policy config:
    bppllist <policy-name> -U

and STU selected in above policy:
    bpstulist -label <STU-name> -U

as well as license info on media server specified in STU config as requested above.

    (commands are in ..\netbackup\bin\admincmd)

  • Tell us some more in order for us to help you:

    • Did this work before (what was changed)
    • Using a SAN  media server configuration ?
    • Using appliance - 5230/5220 ?

Symantec tech note related to status 159:

  • *Yes it is working before...it is failing for one of the client in DAG configuration

*No it is not using SAN media server

    *It is not appliance

  • may be little bit more information

how the DAG backup has been configured?

please post the failed job detail status, and also the

    bpplinfo <dag policy name> -L

bpminlicense -list_keys -verbose    (make sure you remove the lincese key before posting)

  • Please post the content from detailed status tab of backup job.
And check the bpminlicense -list_keys -verbose , (Share what is the "product Id & Server Tier"shown in the ouput of command)
