capacity License NetBackup

Hi All,

This is just out of curiosity that what will happen if the backup capacity surpasses the NetBackup licensed capacity. Can this cause the NetBackup data base to shut down.

it's even worth going over capacity just to see that happen!

    movie stars and backups!!

    who would have thought   ;)

    .

seriously though, the closer live monitoring of over capacity usage can only lead to one thing, that NetBackup will stop ingesting new backups, but maybe they will still allow NetBackup to be good for restores and expiry (but no guarantees), if over used - and I suspect that this license anti-theft feature can be enabled remotely by Veritas for persistent abusers.

Basically there is no longer any hiding.  Persistent license abusers must expect to be prosecuted for full costs plus damages.  It's just not worth it.

  • Either Liam Neeson or Chuck Norris will come to your office and demand payment :)

Just kidding, nothing will happen but you should not misuse the trust license that Veritas provides. Just now they change to a non-trust model and that will make all our lives more difficult.
