Change servers IP address with Netbackup client

Hello,

we need to move Solaris server with Netbackup standard client (7.0.*) installed to another LAN network. Do I need to do any task related to Netbackup client installation ?

  • NBU does not prefer one protocol over the other.

It relies on the OS to resolve names and IP addresses.

  • NetBackup stores hostnames only.

As long as forward and reverse lookup is updated at OS level (hosts files or DNS) NBU will be fine.

The only place where NBU stores IP address for a short while (1 hour) is its 'host cache'.

Please refresh NBU host cache after updating hosts file and/or DNS. Issue this command on Master and Media servers (option was introduced in 7.0.1):

    bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

Perhaps the way NBU connects to other hosts (DNS/numerical IP addresses) is setup during installation (am I right ?).

Can I check somehow which way is used on our client/master ?
