Issues in Tapelibrary using robtest

I've tried to run robtest (Symantec net backup 7.5.0.6)  and got this message

C:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\bin>robtest

Invoking robotic test utility:
C:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\bin\tldtest.exe -rn 0 -r MISSING_PATH:00X2U78Z0782_LL0

Opening MISSING_PATH

  • Seems the device path has disappeared or changed.

What does the output of this command show?

    volmgr\bin\scan -changer

If the robot no longer shows under scan you have an issue with the robot being presented to the OS - check the cabling/zoning and rescan the devices.

You will need to delete the robot and re-add it once you get it back, or manually change the device path (deleting and re-adding is so much easier)

  • Also check for ghost devices since you will be removeing and readding in the device manager: TECH93292

To identify and remove the ghost devices from the Windows Device Manager, do the following:

    1.  From the command prompt on the problem media server, run:

    C:\>set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

    C:\>start devmgmt.msc

    2.  Then, select View from the drop down and select to Show Hidden Devices.

At this point, any ghost tape devices will be seen with lighter, transparent icon and can be removed.  This is done by right-clicking the ghost tape device and selecting "Uninstall".  A reboot of the machine should be performed following this action.
