Migrate netbackup with ufsdump

Dear all,

I’m read  pervious post on this board about migration netbackup from unix  to unix (same NUB version , same OS version). So If I can backup '/usr/openv'  all of folder from original server  via using ufsdump  and restore it to destination server, It’s still require to recover catalog or not ?

Thank you for your reply

  • I wouldn't recommend doing that.  I would recommend doing a catalog backup, installing NBU on the new server, take the old server offline, make sure the new server has the same hostname (important) and IP as the old server did, then do a catalog recovery.

using ufsdump to move the /usr/openv/ directory has too much room for error in my personaly opinion.

    HI

If you are working in SAN environment  then copy /opt/openv onnother dg

unmount that partition. In the meanwhile install new Netbackup 6.5 with latest patches on the other server and make the server name and IP same as earlier one and then import and mount this /opt/openv/  on new server.

Here your New Netbackup is ready without affecting all clients. It requires only 12-15 hrs downtime of master server.
  • Dear all, I'm already try it on my lab, copy /usr directory is not work.
