NDMP Drive Configuraiton issue

Hello ,

We are facing one issue with NDMP.

We have configured the NDMP drives and storage unit through GUI. device configuration has been completed successfully. After that , we have started the backup on storage unit but not single drive is able to mount the media.

What needs to check from our end for NDMP as this is the first time we are facing this issue.

    The libary could not load the tape into the drive "error requesting media, TpErrno = Robot operation failed"

     

    Check that you're library is working fine. If you've configured the robot on another host, try loading and unloading the drives from that server.

    What is the version of NetBackup and what make model NAS filer is this ?

    Are the tape drives shared in SSO config? Do you have a normal media server as robot control host? If so, you can use robtest on robot control host to test tape mounts. Ensure bptm log folder exists on media server configured as NDMP media server (SF440) and increase logging level to 3. Check bptm log file for errors after the next failure.

    will you be able to get the output for the below commads from NetBackup Master server?

    tpautoconf -probe

    tpautoconf -verify

    Note: these commands will not make any impact to the Master server.

    Hello All,

    Everything is working fine for normal backups except NDMP backups. we have approx. 15 NDMP bcakups which are working fine. Only this host having the issue. There is no issue with tape library. Please suggest.

    Hello Mam,

    Which make/model filer?
    Below are the OSC ZFS model

    Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-ES

    What is OS and NDMP version on the filer?

    os type "SunOS"
      os version "5.11"


    Have you checked the filer system log for errors?

    Have asked for filer logs to concern team.

    Kindly find the logs uploaded below if required.

    bptm

    bpbrm

    ndmp

    ndmpagent.

    Have you had a look at the 2 posts above?

    Have you tried to locate NDMP error codes for this device on Oracle website (you will probably need Oracle user logon) ?

    verify and probe are working fine. We hav also created the storage units successfully.

    The problem is on the filer - not NBU config.
