Netbackup 7.01 Media manager

Hi All,

 

Could someone please expalin me this behaviour of Netbackup Media manager,

 

I just noticed if a tape was used one of the Media server then rest of the media server dont use that tape even though free space is available.

For Example: If tape WED111 was used by Media server BK02, then rest of the media server BK03 dont use this media even though free space is available.

this is the way netbackup operates or some settings to be changed?

    You can also select "Enable unrestricted media sharing for all media servers" in Host Properties -> Master -> Media.

    NetBackup by default has a tape owner so once used by one server it only gets used by that one

    Depending on what version you use you can alter this

    If you have a Credentials Section in your console go to Server Groups and then create a new Group for Media Sharing and add to that group all of the appropriate Media Servers

    After that they will share the tapes
