Hi, I'm running Symantec Netbackup 7.1.0.3 on Windows 2008 R2 x64. I want to build an additional Netbackup server but on a server with Redhad Enterprise Linux as operating system. What is the latest version of Redhat Enterprise Linux as operating system that is supporting from Netbackup 7.1.0.3? Also, what is the latest version of Redhat Enterprise Linux as operating system that is supporting by Netbackup 7.5? Thanks in advance,

I assume you want the Redhat Linux server as a media server/s with your 7.5 Windows 2008 systems as the Master? If that is the case you can use Enterprise Linux 6.0 on x86-64 platform on your Media servers. Hope that helps. If so please mark the post that helped as solved.

Scenario 3: If I have both Netbackup Master & Media Server on windows 2008 R2 x64 operating system (scenario 1), will I be able to upgrade the netbackup to version 7.5? (of course I know that I've first to upgrade the Master and after the Media server) Scenario 4: If I have Netbackup 7.1.0.3 Master server on windows 2008 R2 x64 and the Netbackup 7.1.0.3 Media server on Redhat Enterprise Linux v6.x (scenario 2), Will I be able to upgrade the Netbackup Master & Media server to version 7.5? Scenario 2: Yes you can use Redhat v6.x at latest patch. We do not care about minor patches. (unless we mention it in the compatibility guide) Scenario 4. Yes upgrading to NBU 7.5 would be fine after implementing Redhat Linux 6 at 7.1.0.3 into your environment. No issue there. hope that helps?

Looks like the latest is Enterprise Linux 6.0 on x86-64 platform which is supported on Master server from 7.1 onwards and on Media servers from 7.0 onwards.

(note Opscenter server is only supported on this version of Enterprise Linux from 7.5 onwards)

I assume you want the Redhat Linux server as a media server/s with your 7.5 Windows 2008 systems as the Master?

If that is the case you can use Enterprise Linux 6.0 on x86-64 platform on your Media servers.

As it concerns the scenario 4, you mean that I can upgrade BOTH Netbackup 7.1.0.3 Master Server (windows 2008 R2 x64) and Netbackup 7.1.0.3 Media Server (Redhat Enterprise Linux v6.x), to Netbackup 7.5 ? If yes, then the compatibility list for Redhat concerns only Master Media server operating system?

Compatibilty Guide has columns for Master server as well as Media server.

Look at the section under the heading Red Hat Enterprise Linux - NetBackup Server.
