Remote Java Admin Console will not connect to master
I have Netbackup 7.0 running on Red Hat 5. We are moving the tape rotation responsibilities to people who do not use Linux.
I have installed the newest Java Remote Admin console on the windows computers, open firewall ports for 1556 and 13724 on the linux system and we still can not get the console to connect to the host. The client is a Windows 7 laptop
Here are the logs from the windows system:
Connecting to vnetd service over PBX port = 1556
ServerInterface:Logon:Exception encountered null
ServerInterface:Logon - Initial host:null, Current host:BACKUP1, PBX port:1556
Can not connect to the NB-Java authentication service on BACKUP1 on port 1556. Ex
ception:
vrts.common.server.CantConnectToAuthServViaVNETDException
Connecting to vnetd service over PBX port = 1556
All comms is a 2-way thing. Windows firewall will prevent port 1556 connection.
So, yes - disabling Windows firewall is a must.
With UAC enabled, you always have to remember ro right-click on everything you open, run as Administrator.
These 2 things are always disabled first thing when I get a new laptop.
You need to double-check which Java version you have installed - only version 7.0 will work with your version 7.0 master server. And if the master is patched with 7.0.1, you will have to patch your Java installation as well.
