san media server and san client

for configuring SAN media server:

Lets suppose on a windows server,i have a 6 TB drive coming from SAN.

So i configured that win server as SAN media server using SCSI cables.

STEPS to take:

  1. Install media server software on that win machine.
  2. then SAN media server license
  3. then SSO license

Am i correct?

  • Lets suppose .....

We REALLY had ENOUGH of 'Lets suppose' !!!!!

Only in Lets suppose' -world will anyone try and configure SSO with SCSI cable.

I have in the past pointed you to the SSO manual.
Have you made any attempt to read it?
If you battle to understand SAN concepts - this is the wrong forum. Either book yourselve on SAN training or Google it.

There are also plenty discussions on this forum as well as TNs explaining SAN Media Server concepts and difference between SAN Media Server and SAN Client.
We have also explained in your other forum post that there is NO SAN Media Server License. It is called Enterprise Client License.

  • Is this a real server or a theoretical server?

  • SSO license is need only when you are to share tape drives with other media servers.

In general, it is not likely to configure SSO with SCSI. Please review your plan if you are really to configure SSO with SCSI.
