snapshot failed quiesce the virtual machine

    keep below entry in tools.conf of VM and restart the vmware tools services from service.msc of the VM and then try the backups

     

    [vmbackup]
    vss.disableAppQuiescing = true

     

    location of tools.conf in VM

    C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Tools\tools.conf

You forgot to tell us which OS on the failing VM? Which ESX /vCenter version? What applications are running on this VM? Any RDM disks on the VM? Can you take a snapshot from vSphere client? Have you checked VM logs while snapshot is attempted during backup?
