Tape Library/Tape Drive emulator

Hi folks,

I am looking for a tape drive/ tape library emulator software...as i am looking to setup a small lab setup to try out a few netbackup 7 features before our purchase.

could you suggest which emulator s/w is available that could help me emulate a tape library with drives so that i can test drive netbackup 7.

your feedback would be very appreciated.

Both project below does deduplication on file system level and are not VTL's:

lessfs – A high performance inline data deduplicating filesystem for Linux.

Opendedup Develops SDFS, a file-system that does inline deduplication

  • Have you used this software in Windows environment? If so, please write an article on it and put link here. It would be a great help for people who are just starting their way in backup solutions.

  • I'd suggest you to download official datasheets and technical papers - they are rather useful and detailed, step-by-step instructions for managing and using VTL.
