Unable to reassign media owner from old NDMP host to new NDMP host

Hi,

Clustered Netbackup 7.5.0.7 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Master server

3 x Netbackup 7.5.0.7 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Media servers

3 x Netbackup 7.5.0.7 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Media servers

Old NDMP (NetAPP 3160 7-mode)

New NDMP (NetAPP 8060 C-mode)

StorageTek i500

HP LTO5 drives.

I have replaced an old NetAPP NDMP host with a new one, I am attempting to remove the old NDMP host paths but can't because there is still media owned by it.

I have carried out the change media owner, assigning the new NDMP host as the new owner but this fails as follows:

"Could not changed (sic) media owner: server name not found in the NetBackup configuration.

The host is not defined in EMM(254)"

I can assign the media to a media server but not an NDMP host, is this normal?

Thanks,

Alun.

  • Look like that "bpmedia -movedb" command works for 1 media (-m) , but not for all (-allvolumes)..

I would suggest doing it one by one and find out which media would fail, because doing -allvolumes  will not commit if one of the media fails.

  • Add all media-id's in a text file and use as input to 'for' loop with -m option.
