Unable to write to EMC DD

HOWTO104903 directly talks about this error and causes. As the doc says, do you see any clues when running bperror -disk? 

Also this connect forum post talks about this error. In the end, the user downed the media server, with the media server down rebooted the Data Domain. Maybe a communication error? 

did you check the diskpool and diskvolume status

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbdevquery -listdp -U

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbdevquery -listdv -U

are they also showing up?

if they are showing Down.. you need to make them up using nbdevconfig command

 

Command to change the state of the disk pool to "UP":

# nbdevconfig -changestate -stype PureDisk -dp Disk_Pool_name -state UP

Command to "Reset" a disk pool:

# nbdevconfig -changestate -stype PureDisk -dp Disk_Pool_name -state RESET

How is Netbackup connected to the Data Domain - via CIFS,NFS, or DD BOOST or even VTL ???

Knowing this will help us a lot.

Could it be defined as a AdvancedDisk instead of a BasicDisk ?

Alternative provide the detailed job status from the activity monitor - some of use are quite good a guessing :-)

I really do appreciate all the help, I have used Netbackup/Backup Exec since Seagate days and this is the first time I have been completly stymied

I some of these commands whilst looking for answers. I am assuming the /usr/ means you are on a *nix box. 

I do not have 'disk pools'. I have one storage unit. Historically I had tape libraries which did not beat me up near as bad.

The bperror -disk returns a 'bunch' of

1424291986 1 1536 8 scfmfts001.ad.dcf.state.fl.us 0 0 0 *NULL* nbemm Volume EMC-DD:Internal_16 monitored by scfmfts001.ad.dcf.state.fl.us is down S{cl-2060017} 

Which means absolutely nothing to me.

I really miss my spell checker, not enought time to edit, fix, copy, paste.
